Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help,
Whose hope is in the Lord his God, (Psalm 146:5)
Lord, you were willing to wrestle with Jacob at Penile, help each of us as we wrestle with you and wrestle with trying to be your people find you mighty to save and transform and help. (See Genesis 32:22-32)
Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them;
Who keeps truth forever, (Psalm 146:6)
Jesus, you are the way, the truth, and the life; help us abide in you and the truth you seek to teach us.
Who executes justice for the oppressed,
Who gives food to the hungry.
The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners. (Psalm 146:7)
Jesus, help us by our words and deeds to get justice for the oppressed, food for the hungry, and freedom for prisoners. Help us do what you do.
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind;
The Lord raises those who are bowed down;
The Lord loves the righteous. (Psalm 146:8 )
Holy Spirit, whenever and wherever we are blind, open our eyes and help us lift up those who are bowed down — those who are weary from the struggle.
The Lord watches over the strangers;
He relieves the fatherless and widow;
But the way of the wicked He turns upside down. (Psalm 146:9)
Father, watch over all of the illegal and legal immigrants among us in our communities. Protect them from exploitation and help them find their home in you.
The Lord shall reign forever–
Your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the Lord! (Psalm 146:10)
Holy Trinity, one God, help us know you as our God and worship and praise you. Thank you you for your many blessings.
