Jebusites

2 Samuel 5:6-7 (New Living Translation)
David then led his men to Jerusalem to fight against the Jebusites, the original inhabitants of the land who were living there. The Jebusites taunted David, saying, “You’ll never get in here! Even the blind and lame could keep you out!” For the Jebusites thought they were safe. But David captured the fortress of Zion, which is now called the City of David.

Israel’s leaders from Joshua to the judges had attempted to conquer the Jebusites but failed.   King David refused to be conditioned by the past.

Our Heavenly Father,

Your Holy Word teaches us the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.  David believed Your personal promise to Abraham and to his seed: “Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies.”

We are Abraham’s spiritual descendants.  We believe that all things are possible to those who believe, and we are tired of these strongholds of neurologic disease.  If a Jebusite spirit, a spirit of mockery and of rejection and of hopelessness, is part of these strongholds, we bind these spirits and loose the spirits of affirmation, love, hope, strength, and family.

Father, we believe that Jesus is the Messiah and that we are Your sons and daughters by adoption.    Help us to take possession of the strongholds of neurologic disease and brain injury, especially for Joseph, Sally, Chris, Lauren, Gaenor, Mark, Samuel, Erin, Isabella, Christy, Nick, Alan, and David.

Jesus is the Lord of life.  Jesus is the Lord of neurons and neural connections.  Jesus!  Jesus!  Jesus!  Amen.

Genesis 22:17, Habakkuk 2:4, Mark 9:23, Matthew 16:19

Inspiration for this prayer came from a teaching by Francis Frangipane.
