Sudan collection

The election in Sudan is January 9-15. Below are over 70 prayers, in no particular order.

This day, we bind unto Your children in Sudan, especially the Episcopal Church of Sudan and Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul, a mighty strength: the invocation of the Trinity, the Three in One, and One in Three.
This day, we bind unto Your children in Sudan, by power of faith, the strength of Christ’s Incarnation: conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, baptized, crucified, died, descended into hell, arose, and ascended into heaven.
This day, we bind unto Your children in Sudan: the hope of resurrection and heavenly reward, confessors’ faith, apostles’ word, patriarchs’ prayers, prophets’ scrolls; all good deeds done unto the Lord, and purity of virgin souls.
This day, we bind unto Your children in Sudan the virtues of Your creation: strength of heaven, light of sun, radiance of moon, splendour of fire, speed of lightning, swiftness of wind, depth of sea, stability of earth, firmness of rock.
This day, we bind unto Your children in Sudan: God’s strength to pilot them, God’s might to uphold them, God’s wisdom to guide them, God’s eye to look before them, God’s ear to hear them, God’s word to speak for them, God’s hand to guard them, God’s way to lie before them, God’s shield to protect them, God’s host to secure them:
Against the demon snares of sin, the vice that gives temptation force, the natural lusts that war within, the hostile men that mar their course; of few or many, far or nigh, in every place, and in all hours against all fierce hostility.
This day, we bind unto Your children in Sudan these holy powers: against all Satan’s spells and wiles, against false words of heresy, against the knowledge that defiles, against the heart’s idolatry, against the wizard’s evil craft.
Christ, shield them today against deprivation, starvation, exposure, disease, despair, violence, and death.
Christ with them, Christ before them, Christ behind them,
Christ in them, Christ beneath them, Christ above them,
Christ on their right, Christ on their left,
Christ where they lie down, Christ where they sit down, Christ where they arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of them,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of them,
Christ in every eye that sees them,
Christ in every ear that hears them.
This day, we bind unto Your children in Sudan, especially the Episcopal Church of Sudan and Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul, the Name, the strong Name of the Trinity, by invocation of the same, the Three in One, and One in Three, of whom all nature hath creation.
Salvation is of the Lord.
Salvation is of the Lord.
Salvation is of Christ.
May Your Salvation, O Lord, be ever with them.

Dear Lord, Sudan is replete with marauders bent on harming and killing Your people, taking land that is not theirs, and disrupting the election and the government of Southern Sudan.
If any marauders start out with evil intent, we beseech You to send swarms of hornets to drive them away from Your children, just like You sent hornets against the Hittites, Canaanites, and Hivites.
If any janjaweed (armed gunmen on horseback) set out to harm the innocent, we humbly ask that You commission an angel to stop their horses, just like You stopped Balaam’s ass.
If militia use weapons upon Your children, stop their weapons the way You closed the mouths of the lions for Daniel.
If an army seeks to destroy Your people, we plead with You to obstruct their view, like the pillar of cloud that gave darkness to Pharoah’s army at the Red Sea.
If any of Your warriors are being hunted down, we ask that strangers will hide them, like Rahab hiding Joshua’s two spies under stalks of flax, or give them means of escape, like Paul escaping King Aretas of Damascus through a window in a basket. If any babies are in peril, we ask that they be spared, like Moses in the bulrushes.
If Your children are oppressed by thirst, open their eyes to see a well, like Hagar in the wilderness. If their strength wanes, grant them provision from unexpected sources, like Jonathan’s honeycombs in the fields.
If there are delays at the polling booths, we request You order time and space over Sudan, as You stopped the sun and moon for Joshua when he fought the Amorite kings.
Jehovah Sabaoth, You are God-of-the-Angel-Armies, and we proclaim Your Holy Name. Amen.
Genesis 21:19, Exodus 2:3, 14:19-20, 23:28, Numbers 22, Joshua 2:6; 10, Judges 14:8-9, 1 Samuel 14:25-27, 2 Corinthians 11:32-33

Dear Heavenly Father,
The people of Southern Sudan stand at the threshold of a new era. Purify them in every way to prepare them as the bride of Christ.
Help them to keep Your commandments and do those things that are pleasing in Your sight.
Adorn them with the unfading beauty of a gentle spirit, quiet before You. Open their ears that they may hear You, and open their hearts to ask what You appoint in that moment.
Father, You are the Source of all blessings. May they obtain grace and favor in the eyes of Your Son Jesus Christ, their Bridegroom. Amen.
Esther 2:12-16, 1 Peter 3:1-6, 1 John 3:22

Dear Heavenly Father,
The people of Southern Sudan once worshipped the spirits of nature. Now many have left these ancestral traditions and worship You. May You, Lord, recompense them for what they have done. Indeed, may they be richly rewarded by You, Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings they have come to take refuge.
In Your eyes may they find favor. In Your Holy Word may they find comfort and in the Body and Blood of Your Son spiritual sustenance. Bless them with food sufficient for their needs. Amen.
Ruth 2:11-14

Our Heavenly Father,
Did not Ruth come to Boaz at the threshing floor where he separated the chaff from the wheat? Did he not spread his garment over her and take her under his protection because she was a virtuous woman?
Christ Jesus is the kinsman redeemer of the Christians in Southern Sudan. We cry out for Him to spread His garment over them and take them under His protection. May His garment stem the flow of blood and heal this land, just as it healed the woman with the issue of blood. Amen.
Ruth 3:6-14

Our Heavenly Father,
Boaz bought all that was Elimelech’s, and all that was Chilion’s and Mahlon’s, from the hand of Naomi. He redeemed Ruth the Moabitess, the widow of Mahlon. He bought her to be his wife to restore the name of the dead to his inheritance so that the name of the dead may not be cut off from among his brethren and from the gate of his birthplace.
We are witnesses that Jesus Christ has bought His people in Southern Sudan to be His bride. He restored this people to life by the price of His blood. As intercessors, we come to the bench of Your judgment. Do not cut this people off from their inheritance and the gate of their birthplace, we pray. Amen.
Ruth 4:1-10

Dear Jesus, our Redeemer,
Pass by Southern Sudan and look upon her. Love her, spread Your garment over her, and cover her nakedness. Declare Your marriage vows over this nation and make a covenant with her. She is Yours.
Wash her with the water of the word. Anoint her with the oil of Your Spirit. Dress her in the clothing of salvation. Drape her in the pure linen of Your righteousness. Adorn her with jewels of holiness. Crown her with lovingkindness and tender mercies. Perfect the beauty of Southern Sudan in Your splendor, Sovereign Lord. Amen.
Ezekiel 16:8-14, Isaiah 61:10

Jehovah Sabaoth, O Lord of hosts,
Your children in Southern Sudan testify that You are their Maker. You are their Husband. O Holy One of Israel, You are their Redeemer. You are God of the whole earth.
They have been forsaken and grieved in spirit. Call them, Lord. Take away their fear. They shall not be ashamed. Neither will they be confounded or depressed. In You they live and move and have their being. Amen.
Isaiah 54:4-6, Acts 17:28

You rule in heaven and laugh at the futile plans of Your enemies. You scoff at them because everything serves Your plans. You even redeemed the world through the crucifixion of Your Son.
We give to You the disrupted governance of Sudan. Take it, Father, and work it for the good of those who love You, who have been called according to Your purpose. Use anything that might have been intended for harm for the saving of many souls.
We lean on You, Lord, and not on our own understanding. Amen. Genesis 50:20, Romans 8:28, Acts 2:22-23, Psalm 2:4

O God in heaven,
Look at all the government leaders in Khartoum that deny You and defy the Messiah. They try to shut Jesus out of Sudan, and they devise mean plots against the Christians.
You laugh at them in derision.
Your sons and daughters in Southern Sudan are not slaves. They are Your heirs, and joint-heirs with Christ Jesus. You bless their obedience.
We ask You, Lord, for their inheritance. We ask You to bless those who hearken to Your voice–overtake them with blessings. Bless their land. Bless the spiritual realm over the land. Bless the soil and the water. Bless their families and churches. Bless their government and businesses. Bless them with long life, we pray. Amen. Psalm 2 MSG, Romans 8:15-17, Deuteronomy 28:1-2

Sovereign Lord, Your children in Sudan come to your altar singing songs of thanksgiving and telling of all your wonders. They love your sanctuary, LORD, the place where your glorious presence dwells. Do not gather their souls with sinners, nor their lives with bloodthirsty men, in whose hands is a sinister scheme, and whose right hand is full of bribes.
Guide their feet in paths of integrity, and guard their hands from shedding innocent blood. Redeem them and be merciful to them.
Establish their government in uprightness. Let the atmosphere be filled with Your praise. Amen. Psalm 26:6-12

Father in heaven, You cannot forget Your children in Sudan. Their names are written on the palms of Your hands. Isaiah 49:16

Sing, O heavens, and joy, O earth! Break forth into song, Mont Abourassein, Jebel Barkal, Jebel Dair, Gebel Elba, Kinyeti, Marrah Mountains, Nuba Mountains, and Jebel Weinat! Encompass Sudan with praise for the Lord has comforted His people and will have compassion upon His afflicted. Rejoice! We say, Rejoice!
Isaiah 49:13

Holy God, high and lifted up, You inhabit eternity. You dwell in the high and holy place and with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit. You revive the spirit of the lowly and the heart of the contrite.
Revive Your servants in Sudan. They are trusting, lowly, loving and forgiving. Bring new life to Southern Sudan. Bring Your kingdom to Southern Sudan. We stand with Your Son and say, ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done in Southern Sudan as it is in heaven.’ Amen.
Isaiah 57:15, Matthew 18:3-4

Father, the angels look upon Your glory. In adoration we bow down before You and say, Holy is the Lord God of hosts. Holy is His name. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord. Let Your glory come near to the suffering people in Southern Sudan. Amen. Matthew 18:10

Praise the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens.
May Your voice rise up amongst Your intercessors for Sudan, O Lord. Let the music fill the air and each note cleanse the heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness.
May Your voice rise up amongst Your intercessors for Sudan, O Lord. Let the music fill the air and each note cleanse the heavens.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with tambourine and dancing, praise him with the strings and flute, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.
May Your voice rise up amongst Your intercessors for Sudan, O Lord. Let the music fill the air and each note cleanse the heavens.
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD. Psalm 150, Isaiah 30:31-32

You are the honor of all Your saints. Through our high praises and by Your Holy Word, bind the kings and nobles holding Southern Sudan in bondage. Bind the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, the mighty powers in this dark world, and the evil spirits in the heavenly places in chains and iron fetters. Amen.
Psalm 149:6-9, Ephesians 6:12

Holy Spirit, bless the intercessors for Sudan. Vivify their spirits that their intercessions will be multiplied manifold.

Father, we speak blessings to the enemies of Sudan in unity with Jesus. You know their needs far better than we. Bless the Muslim government in Khartoum and the military. Bless the international oil companies. Bless the Chinese government and arms dealers. Bless the janjawid. Bless the Lord’s Resistance Army. Bless the animists and the witch doctors. Lord, bless all of the enemies of Your Sudanese children. Bless them at their point of need. Amen.

Our Father in heaven, the Sudanese Christians are groaning under their burden of slavery and oppression. They are crying out for help. Hear their cry! Remember that they are Your people under the new covenant. Remember Your promises and act. Amen. Exodus 2:23-25

Jehovah Sabaoth, may all those people who are sabotaging the Comprehensive Peace Agreement feel the force of Your strong hand. Exodus 6:1

Father, the Christians in Sudan are Your sons and daughters by adoption. They are Your descendants. They are rooted in Christ Jesus. May they bud and blossom and fill the whole land of Southern Sudan with the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Isaiah 27:6

Jesus Christ,
You have shared our humanity. By Your death, You destroyed the devil, who held the power of death. You saw him fall like lightning from heaven. Hallelujah!
At creation, Your Father instructed us to subdue the earth and take dominion, but the devil sowed the seed of doubt in the heart and mind of humanity.
When You came to earth, You gave us authority to trample on evil spirits and demons and over all the power of the devil. By Your death and resurrection, You reclaimed all authority on heaven and earth and commissioned us to make disciples of all nations.
Lord, we stand in Your authority and bind the territorial spirits that have control over Sudan. We have been given legal authority over all devils. We proclaim that as Your children walk over the ground in Sudan, their feet will tread on evil spirits and demons. Fill their feet with the fire of the Holy Spirit.
The word “daimon” means to distribute fortunes. Release Your children from lack as the soles of their feet burn these snakes and scorpions. Amen. Amen. Amen.
Genesis 1:28, Luke 2:18-19, 9:1-2, Hebrews 2:14-15

Jesus, You are the Lion of the tribe of Judah. We see through a glass darkly. This land has known heartache for millenia. It has suffered greatly by the rulers, the authorities, the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Devour these unseen forces in Sudan. Amen

Hear, O Sudan: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.
Lord of hosts, come to Sudan.
Love the LORD your God with all your heart.
Lord of hosts, be their garland of glory and diadem of beauty.
Love the LORD your God with all your soul.
Lord of hosts, be their spirit of justice.
Love the LORD your God with all your might.
Lord of hosts, be their strength in the battle.
Write these words on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
Lord of hosts, turn back the battle at the gate. We stand in agreement with Your written word and write these words on the spiritual gates of Sudan. Amen.
Deuteronomy 6:4-6,9;Isaiah 28:5-6

Dear Heavenly Father,
You have laid the foundation of the earth, and Your right hand spans the heavens. All things were created by and for Your Son. When You summon, all of creation stands up together.
When Your children crossed the Red Sea, You sent a strong east wind and divided the waters. Then You overthrew Pharoah and his chariots amidst the waters.
When the priests carrying the ark stepped into the flooded Jordan River, You heaped up the waters for Your children to pass through.
When the five kings of the Amorites came against Joshua, You slew them with hailstones and made the sun and moon stand still.
When Deborah and Barak defended Your people against the Canaanites, the stars fought and the river Kishon swept the enemy away.
From the Selima Oasis to the Lotagipi Swamp, from the Wadi Ibra to the Red Sea, the creation of Sudan waits in eager expectation for Your children to be revealed. Your children are sore oppressed. Summon Your creation in Sudan–the mountains and desert, the upper and lower Nile valleys, the Blue Nile and the White Nile, the cataracts and Lake Nubia, the winds and the clouds–to stand up together and reveal the birthright of Your children. Amen.
Isaiah 48:13, Colossians 1:16, Exodus 14:21-28, Joshua 3,10, Judges 5:20-21, Romans 8:19-22

Jesus, You are the Truth. Your kingdom is come near to Sudan. No one who speaks falsely will stand in Your presence. You will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden evil thing. There is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.
Judge the spirits of deception. With the two-edged sword that comes forth from Your mouth, cut off the horns of all the lying spirits in Sudan and put them to silence. Raise up the authority of the righteous. Amen.
Psalm 75:10, 101:7-8, Ecclesiastes 12:14, Luke 8:17

O Lord God of Israel, in the forty years that You led the children of Israel through the wilderness, their clothes and sandals did not wear out, and You fed them daily. We pray that Your children in Sudan and their intercessors will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for those who believe Him. Amen. Deuteronomy 29:5-6, Ephesians 1:19a

Lord God Almighty,
You have given Christ Jesus dominion over the works of Your hands and placed everything under His feet. The Christians in Sudan love You, Lord. Keep them. Extend Your mighty scepter on their behalf.
Deliver Your children in Sudan from the snare of the fowler and the deadly pestilence. Cover them with the wings of Your angels. Shield them with Your truth.
Bear them up as they trample the lion and adder, the young lion and the dragon under their feet. Enlarge their steps underneath them and make their way perfect.
We declare that the God of peace will crush Satan under their feet. The rulers, the authorities, the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms over Sudan will fall and be ashes. Amen.
2 Samuel 22, Psalm 91, Psalm 110:2, Romans 16:20, Malachi 4:3

We give thanks to You, O God. We give thanks for Your name is near. Men tell of Your wonderful deeds.
You are our Judge. You bring one down and exalt another. You cut off the authority of the arrogant. You break their weapons of war.
You alone are to be feared. Who can stand before You when You are angry? Rise up to judge the wicked in Sudan. Save the afflicted! Break the principalities, powers, rulers of darkness of this world, and the spiritual wickedness in heavenly places over Sudan.
We stand in agreement with Your judgments, for You are trustworthy. As intercessors in lands far removed from Sudan, we offer our praise to You because Your name is near them. Your name is a strong tower. The righteous run into it and are safe. Amen.
Psalm 75, 76, Proverbs 18:10, Ephesians 6:12

Dear Father,
Your Holy Scripture promises that Your angels encamp around those who revere and worship You with awe. Just as Jerusalem was once surrounded by singers, we humbly request that You commission angels who sing and play musical instruments to surround Southern Sudan on election day. Fill the atmosphere around them with praise. Amen.
Psalm 34:7, Nehemiah 12:27-28

O Lord,
May the prayers of faithful Christians around the world bring pandemonium to any evil strategies and plans for the January 9 Sudan election. Rout the principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world, and spiritual wickedness in high places that have influence over this election. Amen. 2 Samuel 22:14-15 MSG

Lord God of Israel,
We sing to You a new song and take joy in Your glory. You are sovereign over all the earth and over Sudan. You work righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. When Your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.
Your prophet Elijah pronounced Your judgment against Jezebel, the prophet-slayer. Only her skull, her feet and her hands could be found to be buried.
The land of Sudan mourns her lost prophets, especially Archdeacon Joseph Mabior Garang. The wicked are in authority.
We stand in agreement with Your judgment against the prophet-slaying spirit. Lion of the tribe of Judah, devour the prophet-slaying spirits in Sudan like the dogs devoured Jezebel and leave them for refuse. Amen.
Psalm 103:6, 149:9, Proverbs 29:2, Isaiah 26:9

Things have stayed stirred up in Sudan for thousands of years. What are You trying to tell us about this land of transition between the desert and the savanna?
You taught us, “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
You are the Prince of Peace. You slept through the raging storm at sea. A political storm is raging in Sudan, and Your children are persecuted.
Go to Sudan and bless them with Your presence, we humbly pray. Fill the hearts, minds, and souls of Your children with Your Spirit. Prepare a table before them in the midst of their enemies. Anoint their heads with oil. Anoint them with a spirit of peace. Keep them steadfast amidst the storm.
Surely goodness and mercy will follow them, and they will be a permanent dwelling place, a sanctuary of Your Holy Spirit. Lord, we proclaim Sudan to be a land of holy transition, where the kingdom of heaven invades earth. Amen.
Psalm 23, 1 Corinthians 3:16

Create in us, the intercessors for Sudan, clean hearts, O Lord, and renew a steadfast spirit within us. Cleanse our hands so that they will please You in worship. Purify our hearts with Your word. Cut the ligatures of idolatry and lies that we may cast them off, like Bartimaeus throwing off his beggar’s cloak.
Lord, we yearn to ascend the hill of the Lord and stand in Your holy place! Bless our requests, O Savior, and vindicate Sudan. Amen.
Psalm 24:3-5, 51:10

We give You glory and proclaim Your praise. Jehovah Sabaoth, God-of-the-Angel-Armies, will march out like a mighty man. Like a warrior, he will stir up His zeal. With a shout, He will raise the battle cry and triumph over His enemies.
Lay waste to the political and military forces that plot to disrupt the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in Sudan. Dry up the Lord’s Resistance Army!
Do not forsake Your children in the Episcopal Church of Sudan. Guide them on unfamiliar paths. Show them the next right step. Turn darkness into light before them. Make the rough places smooth.
Lord, have You not heard our cries? Incline Your ear to us. Give birth to a new peace, a new kingdom on earth in Southern Sudan as it is in heaven, and bring these evil men to utter shame. Amen.
Isaiah 42:12-17

Lord Jesus Christ,
You are not looking for an unresponsive bride. May You rejoice over Your intercessors for Sudan like a bridegroom rejoices over the bride. As the grain planted by Isaac in Gerar, may the Spirit-empowered-prayers of the intercessors, planted like seed in a famine, reap a hundredfold harvest in Southern Sudan. Amen.
Genesis 26:12, Isaiah 62:5

Dear Father,
We acknowledge You in every circumstance in our lives and give You praise. The kingdom of God is forcefully advancing. Enthrone Yourself on the praises of our hearts, and rebuke any strategy the enemy is using to bind and block Southern Sudan. Holy is the Lord. Holy is the Lord God of hosts. Holy is His name. Amen.
Matthew 11:12

Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
Clap your hands, you people. Clap your hands. Shout to God with loud songs of joy.
Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Dance on the lion and the adder; trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot. Dance to the Lord!
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!
Psalm 144:1, 150:3-6, 91:13

O Lord, Your people perish for lack of vision, and we grieve. We don the mantle of praise and magnify Your holy name. Teach us to praise You with sound and light and color. Like Joseph who wore the coat of many colors, may we wear Your manifold wisdom.
O Lord, Your people perish for lack of vision, and we grieve. Like Joshua discomfited Amalek with the edge of the sword, may we discomfit the rulers of darkness in this world and the spiritual wickedness in heavenly places with Your word, the sword of the Spirit. Help us to die to self. O Lord, make war on these dark spirits as we raise our hands in prayer.
O Lord, Your people perish for lack of vision, and we grieve. We look to Your Holy Word to lead us in paths of righteousness, for Your word is a lamp to our feet and a light for our path. Your presence kisses the word, making it sweeter than honey. Through Your precepts we gain understanding; therefore we hate every false way. We do not call the wicked righteous; we rebuke them. May we never let go of Your Holy Word.
O Lord, Your people perish for lack of vision, and we grieve. Bring Your people in Sudan to the table You have prepared for them in the presence of their enemies. May the intercessors for Sudan hold high the banner of love and lead them to the banqueting house. Surely goodness and mercy will follow Your people all the days of their lives, and they will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen.
Proverbs 29:18, Isaiah 6:5-7, Psalm 119:103-105, Proverbs 24:23-25, Exodus 17:8-16, Ephesians 6:12,17, Song of Solomon 2:4, Psalm 23:3,5,6

Lord God, there are many demons in Sudan, but these spiritual giants are uncovered. We stand in unity with our Sudanese brothers and sisters. Exponentially multiply the power of our prayers. We pick up the five stones of worship, Holy Scripture, prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Who are these uncircumcised of heart that they should defy the Sudanese children of the living God?
1 Samuel 17

Jesus, You are calling Your church to war and giving us instructions to enable us to overcome and be victorious. Open the ears of Your intercessors to hear the call of the war trumpet.
Stir them to be overcomers and to live as Your ambassadors in the earth. Help them to appropriate Your instructions to the seven churches in Revelation into their own lives. Raise up intercessors who will confront the demonic forces over Sudan through the intercession of the Holy Spirit and the prophetic decrees of the Word of God.
The roar of the Lion of Judah is in Sudan today, and our hearts leap with joy. Amen.
Revelation 1-3

We pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May all who love this city prosper. The Nubian Pharoah Tirhakah came to the aid of Jerusalem, Lord. Prosper Sudan.
O Jerusalem, may there be peace within your walls and prosperity in your palaces. All the families of the earth have been blessed through you.
God, You have said that You bless those that bless Israel and curse those that treat Israel with contempt. In the past, Sudan blessed Jerusalem with its military. As intercessors for Sudan today, we bless Israel. For the sake of our brothers and sisters in Sudan, we will say,“Peace be with Jerusalem.”
For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, we will seek what is best for you, O Jerusalem.
Psalm 122:6-9, Genesis 12:3, 2 Kings 19

Sovereign Lord of all the earth,
Sudan is Your field. As intercessors, we labor where You call. Ruth the Moabite gleaned in the corners and along the edges of the barley field, and You released Your spiritual blessings upon her and her seed.
We cry out for Your purposes to come to pass in the edges of Southern Sudan, and we release Your spiritual blessings upon the people who live near the borders and upon their descendants. Amen.
Ephesians 1:3, 1 Corinthians 3:9

Dear Heavenly Father,
Satan would cause Sudan to hide its light and not release the salt which will preserve a lost and dying world. He will do everything he can to silence Your children.
Christ be in the spirits of Your children in Sudan that they may shine like a city on a hill. May their words and deeds praise You.
In the name of Christ Jesus, we bind all that would silence Your Sudanese children, and we loose the spirit of testimony. Provide all of the spiritual nutrients needed for the establishment of Your kingdom in Sudan. May it be rooted in love.
Father, we pray not only for spiritual salt, but also for the edible salt. Provide all of the micronutrients needed for their bodies and minds to grow into the stature of Christ. Amen.
Matthew 5:13-16

We praise You, Lord, and rejoice in Your glory. We speak new prayers and sing new songs in adoration. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you. You will beautify the meek with salvation.
Who is President Omar al-Bashir that he should indiscriminately slaughter Your children? Who is Joseph Kony that he should defy the living God by using His name in the service of death? They have abducted, enslaved, raped, maimed, and killed Your children.
Let the high praises of You be in our mouths and the two-edged sword of Holy Scripture in our hands.
God has exalted Jesus to the highest place and given him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee must bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
We who believe in Jesus Christ exercise our authority to establish God’s kingdom on earth. We declare to all the mountains and obstacles that block the dismantling and dissolution of the Lord’s Resistance Army and the evil regime in Khartoum, “Become a plain.”
Jesus Christ came to destroy the works of the devil. We say, “Devil, get under our feet and crawl on Your belly. Eat our dust because that is the only thing you are allowed to eat. We bind Your rulers, authorities, powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms with chains and fetters of iron.”
Oh, Lord, it is Your good pleasure to give gifts to Your children. You want us to ask and seek. Withdraw Your sword from its scabbard and command it to destroy this evil stronghold.
Take pity on Your people. Take pity. Amen.
Psalm 89:14; 149; Jeremiah 47:6-7, Philippians 2:9-11, 1 John 3:8, Genesis 3:14, Luke 11:9-10

Dear Father,
We thank You for Your servant Jesus, full of Spirit, full of love. You delighted in Him. We delight in Him too. We hope in His name for Southern Sudan. Amen.
Matthew 12:18-21

Who are these rebels that they should bring reproach on Your holy name? Who is Joseph Kony that he should defy the living God by using His name in the service of death? Kony has profaned Your name. He has abducted, enslaved, raped, maimed, and killed Your children.
We bless You, O Lord. All that is within us blesses Your holy name. Our hearts rejoice in You because we trust Your holy name. We praise Your great and terrible name for it is holy. You are our Redeemer. The Lord of hosts is Your name, the Holy One of Israel.
Save Your children, O God of our salvation, from the Lord’s Resistance Army. Gather them and deliver them from the heathen that they may give thanks to Your holy name and glory in Your praise. Deliver the people who are being persecuted and the children that are enslaved by the Lord’s Resistance Army. Protect Bishop Justin, Mama Joyce, and their flock.
Your name cannot be corrupted. In Your incorruptible name, we bind up all of the demonic forces at work in the Lord’s Resistance Army–the spirits of death, destruction, lust, greed, slavery, hate, theft and drug addiction. We bind up all interaction, interplay, and communication of demonic spirits. We bind up Molech, Baal, and Asherah.
We cry out for deliverance, Lord. Raise up a deliverer to take down Joseph Kony, just as David slew Goliath. Anoint him or her with Your Holy Spirit. Just as David found five smooth stones from the brook, provide all that is needed. Raise up intercessors to join their voices to that of Your Son Jesus, the son of David, who sits at Your right hand to plea for Your children. The Son of God was manifest to destroy the works of the devil.
You arm is not foreshortened, Lord. Lead Your angelic host against the satanic forces of nature and the occult operating in the Lord’s Resistance Army. We pray for the downfall of Joseph Kony, the dissolution of the Lord’s Resistance Army, and the return of the enslaved children to their families. We pray for a cessation of the violence. Smite the arms dealers and drug dealers, the sex slave traffickers, and the corrupt government officials who support this rebel force. If any oil company officials and money-laundering agents are involved with the Lord’s Resistance Army, cast them down.
We pray for the complete and total destruction of the Lord’s Resistance Army, even if supernatural means are necessary. Come speedily, Lord. Come to Sudan, Uganda, and Congo. Come. Amen.

Lord, who are Joseph Kony, Okot Odhiambo, and Dominic Ongwen that they should bring reproach on Your Holy Name? Who are they to profane the name which is above every name?
You have highly exalted Your Son Christ Jesus, and at His name every knee shall bow in heaven, in earth, and under the earth. Every demonic spirit operating in the LRA throughout Garamba National Forest and Sudan, must yield to the Holy Name of Jesus.
You are Jehovah-Sabaoth, the Lord of Hosts. Commission the heavenly hosts to Sudan and Garamba National Forest to defend Your people. Just as You raised up David to slay the Philistine Goliath, send Your Holy Spirit upon Your warriors to bring the downfall of Kony, Odhiambo, Ongwen, and the Lord’s Resistance Army. Amen.

Your Son gave us the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever we bind on earth is bound in heaven and whatever we loose on earth is loosed in heaven. We claim this free access to God’s kingdom and declare that there are no more barriers between heaven and earth at the altar where the Venerable Joseph Garang and his companions were martyred.
Open a portal into the heavens where the angels can ascend and descend, where anointings can flow from the realms of glory, and where the people of God can enter into a heavenly visitation. May the spilled blood of Garang and his companions be the bedrock for a heavenly highway to Wernoyl and the worship of Your children be the paving stones.
Sudan has known conflict for two millenia. We see through a glass darkly and know only in part. If there are portals over this land that allow access of the demonic, we decree them bound. We speak in unity with our brothers and sisters in Sudan and claim the promise of Your blessing. Amen.
Matthew 16:19, Psalm 133

Sovereign Lord,
You are mighty and powerful. You keep Your eyes on the nations. Keep Your eyes on the Comprehensive Peace Agreement in Sudan and bless the peacemakers. Do not let the rebellious rise up against Your people. Amen.
Psalm 66:7

O Lord,
We claim the promise of Your Holy Scripture. Attend to the cries of Your children in Sudan! Amen.
Psalm 34:15

Sovereign Lord,
We look to You, our Master. We cannot stop the the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms operating in Sudan, but You can. We look to You for Your mercy. Amen.
Psalm 123:1-2

Lion of the tribe of Judah, You have triumphed! Root of David, You are victorious! Send the seven horns and seven eyes, the seven spirits of God, out into all the earth. Send them to Sudan. Amen.
Revelation 5:4-7

Dear Heavenly Father,
Your word brought forth light. It created something out of nothing. Grant to the leaders of the Episcopal Church of Sudan an apostolic anointing to bring forth illumination and to create Your kingdom in Sudan as it is in heaven. Amen.
Genesis 1:3

Lord, only You can release the feet of Your Sudanese children from the snares of their enemies. Set them free. Amen.
Psalm 25:15

Dear Father,
The light of Your Son has surely shined on the land of Cush. We thank You for the faithful witness of the Christians in Sudan. They bring You offerings of worship and praise. They offer You their lives. They will bring gifts to Mount Zion, the place of the Name of the LORD Almighty. They will submit to You. Make Your face to shine upon them today, we pray. Amen.
Zephaniah 3:10, Isaiah 18, Psalm 68:31

O Lord, so much innocent blood is being shed! The words of our prayers are inadequate, but hearken to our brothers’ blood crying out to You from the ground, like a voice calling for revenge. Surely the prayers of their blood reach the throne room of heaven.
We join our voices, Lord. We join our voices to the prayers of the saints around the globe. We join our voices to the blood of the martyrs crying out from the soil of Sudan. We join our voices to the heart of Jesus, sitting at Your right hand in glory. We join our voices. Amen.
Genesis 4:10

Lord Jesus,
You are the door to freedom for the enslaved around the world. May they open their hearts to You and find themselves in the spaciousness of Your presence, away from the strife of tongues and the hand of the enemy.
O Lamb of God, You have laid down Your life for the poor and oppressed.
O Door of Hope, open a portal in the heavens over them.
O Strong Deliverer, ride forth and rescue Your children from enemies that steal, kill, and destroy.
O Good Shepherd, come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.
Come, Lord Jesus. Come to Sudan! Amen.
Psalm 31, John 10

Jesus, You are the way.
We speak Your name over the Forty Days Road.
Father, Your Word is truth.
Send forth Your word along the Forty Days Road. It shall not return to You empty, but accomplish what You please.
Holy Spirit, You bring life.
Breathe on these bones, O Breath of God, and fill this land with hope and life.
God’s children in Sudan, whose hearts are thirsty and whose bones are dry, whose hope is lost and spirit cut off. You shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the date palms of the oases shall clap their hands. The sandsheet shall bring forth life, and the trade route shall be holy.
You shall be saved and cleansed by the sure mercies of Jesus. The Lord Almighty is Your God, and you are His people. You shall live under an everlasting covenant of peace, Amen.
Ezekiel 37, Isaiah 55

Sudan is beset with a long history of slavery. As a descendent of a slave-owner, I confess the sins of slavery of our ancestors, and I confess my own sin of indifference to the needs of our African brothers and sisters. I leave those individuals involved in the slave trade of the past, whether European, American, or African, to Your judgment. I forgive them, and I ask You to forgive me for my lack of compassion for those entrapped in poverty.
I leave the current Sudanese slave owners to Your judgment. They too are enslaved, entrapped by false mindsets and demonic spirits. I forgive them; help my unforgiveness.
I speak the name of Your precious Son Jesus, our Redeemer, against the spirit of slavery in this region. Jesus has disarmed the powers and authorities of slavery, triumphing over them by the cross. Jesus appeared to destroy the works of the devil. Every vicious cycle of slavery ruling over Sudan by association, incantation, or generation is being destroyed by the whirlwind of the Lord. Demonic grace is bound, and we pray for the will of God in Sudan.
Lord, I ask for Your tender mercies over the slaves. Just as You used Joseph’s enslavement to save many lives, we humbly ask You, Lord, to raise up Josephs among Sudan’s slaves. Amen.
Genesis 50:20

Holy Father,
We plead with You to make Yourself known to the people of Juba. As You continue to heal the land and heal the hearts of the people on a greater scale than we can even dream, cause the people to see and know and consider and understand the ways of the One True and Living God. Let them see Your hand at work among them.
We claim the spilled blood of Jesus over the land of Juba. May His name be magnified in creation and in the hearts of the people. We plead with You to make Your Son known to the people of Juba. Amen.
Isaiah 41:18-20

O Father,
We claim the Blood of the Lamb over the lintel and side posts of the spiritual gateways to Southern Sudan. She is Your beloved. Let death pass her by.
We proclaim the fruit of Your Holy Spirit at the spiritual gateways–pleasant fruits, all manner, new and old. Let there be a profusion of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.
We call on the wind of Your Holy Spirit to continuously blow the fragrance of new life over every spiritual gate. New life! New life! New life! New life! Amen.
Exodus 12, Song of Solomon 7:13

Our Father in heaven,
Oh, for the mothers and children of Sudan! Smeared and shrugged at, hungry and desolate, the pawns of political violence. Do not let the little ones be abandoned. Keep them safe, we implore You. Amen.

Christ Jesus,
You are the boy Prince, the Prince of Peace, Faithful and True. The Word of God with head full-crowned, You ride at the head of the angel armies. You are the blessed and only Potentate, the Lord of lords, and the King of kings, dwelling in light unapproachable, dwelling in glory over Sudan. Ride down! Ride down in glory to this land. Amen.
Revelation 19:11-16

Christ Jesus,
You are the Good Shepherd. You know each of Your sheep by name. You go before them. The sheep follow You for they know Your voice.
Go before Your children in Southern Sudan. Speak to them and show them the way forward.
We also beseech You to speak to the intercessors for Sudan and teach them how to pray. Amen.
John 10:2-4

Our Father in heaven,
The earth is Yours and the fullness thereof. The beasts of the forest, the fowls of the mountains, and the cattle upon a thousand hills belong to You.
The heavens declare Your righteousness. Angels proclaim Your holiness in neverending chorus. You command the hosts of heaven.
All things in Sudan, the heavens, the earth, and that which is under the earth belong to You. You are sovereign over the land and the heavens above. You are sovereign over its wealth. You are sovereign over its citizens, and You are sovereign over the referendum on January 9.
We cry out for the establishment of Your kingdom in Southern Sudan. Commission Your holy angels to carry out Your will as it is in heaven. Amen.
Psalm 50, Revelation 5:8

Christ Jesus,
You said, “Let the children come to me.” We lift up the prayers of the children of Sudan as an invitation. Go to those children, place Your hands on their heads, and bless them. They give You their trust; grant them Your blessings in good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. Let none be lost. Amen.
Matthew 19:13-14, Luke 6:38

Christ Jesus,
The two epoch turns in the history of the free will of mankind—Eve’s defiance by eating of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge and Your obedience by becoming the sacrifice without blemish—took place in a garden. I pray that Southern Sudan will be like a garden—King Solomon’s garden–the hearts of the people like wells of living waters, their souls landscaped with pomegranates, camphire, trees of frankincense, spikenard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, myrrh and aloes. May Southern Sudan be the Holy of Holies, where love for You burns purest and brightest, without wavering, every heart a mercy seat shielded by the wings of angels.
Your children in Sudan are in great peril, Lord. Send Your Holy Spirit to blow through this people and stir a sweet smelling aroma. May their words and actions be a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. Amen.
2 Corinthians 2:14-16, Song of Solomon 4:12-16

Christ Jesus,
Oh, the magnitude of meekness! Bruised and scourged, You suffered for our transgressions, indeed for the transgressions of Sudan. The cross, the cords, the nails, the spear, the myrrh, the gall, the vinegar were endured for this land. You who knew no sin were made to be sin for us all and for the people of Sudan. May Sudan be made the righteousness of God in You. Amen.
2 Corinthians 5:11

Christ Jesus,
For millennia the land of Southern Sudan has known violence, slavery, and paganism. As we look at Your rising from the tomb, witnessed by Mary Magdalene, from whom You cleansed seven demons, we ask for Your perfect cleansing of this land. Amen.
Luke 8:1-2, John 20:17-18

Christ Jesus,
Your victory over death has cancelled the legal demands in force against us. You have canceled all the regulations, decrees, and demands against Your children in Sudan. You have triumphed over the principalities and powers that are ranged against Southern Sudan. You have ascended on high and are seated at the right hand of the Father in realms of everlasting day. May the Father’s kingdom come and His will be done in Southern Sudan as it is in heaven. Amen.
Colossians 2:14-15

  1. Georgia Smith says:

As You have taught us to do, O Lord, we come to You to pray for,
To bless, forgive, love and do go to our enemies, to those who do evil and harm
So that rancor, hatred, bitterness, hard-heartedness will not dwell in us.
So that we can be true children of God, like You, with Your heart and mind.
O Lord, Our Father, may Your Kingdom come
May Your Holy Will be done in each person and in this nation
Let the light of Your Holy Face shine upon and into the depths of them
Let the light and power of the Holy Spirit move and speak and work
Reveal Your Beloved Son, Reveal Your Holy Name and Word
Bring conviction of sin, righteousness and judgment
And the true mercy of repentance from all sin and idolatry and evil.
Let Your Love, Your enduring true Lovingkindness, draw them to You.
    Come, Holy Spirit
    Come, Holy Word
Come upon and penetrate within each person and group in the Sudan.
Come and wash and work as You will
Bring Your Righteousness, Peace and Joy, Love, Truth and Life,
Let the fruit and gifts of Your Holy Spirit grow within Your people
You are Love and Life, You are our Peace, You are Truth,
You are the Power and Source of Goodness,
YOU alone can impart and bestow what is truly Good.
