Middle East and Northern Africa

March 2, 2011

Wisdom moves more easily than motion itself; she is so pure that she penetrates everything. She is a breath of God’s power–a pure and radiant stream of glory from the Almighty. Nothing that is defiled can ever steal its way into Wisdom. She is a reflection of eternal light, a perfect mirror of God’s activity and goodness. Wisdom of Solomon 7:24-26

Father in heaven,
Take pity on us, blind creatures that we are, and anoint Your children throughout the Middle East and northern Africa with a spirit of wisdom. Amen.

Remember us, most holy Virgin, and bestow on us gifts from the riches of your graces, Virgin full of graces.
St. Athanasius, Bishop and Doctor

Remember Egypt, the land of your refuge, most holy Virgin, and pray for her.

Deuteronomy 4:28-31 and 2 Chronicles 7:14

“And there you will serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell.” (Deuteronomy 4:28 )
Lord Jesus Christ, there is so much idolatry in your church and the worship of man; have mercy on us.

“But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.” (Deuteronomy 4:29)
Holy Spirit, please give us a heart and a soul to seek the Father and rest in his arms of love and mercy.

“When you are in distress, and all these things come upon you in the latter days, when you turn to the LORD your God and obey his voice” (Deuteronomy 4:30)
Father, please help us turn to you and obey you, and daily find the comfort of your love.

“(for the LORD your God is a merciful God), he will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor forget the covenant of your fathers which he swore to them. (Deuteronomy 4:31)
Father, thank you for your faithfulness.

“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)
Jesus, please help us humble ourselves and pray and seek your face and turn from our wicked ways so that you will hear from heaven and forgive our sin and heal our land and your church.
