Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. (Mark 16:9)
Jesus, please make yourself known to us more and more as well.
She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept. (Mark 16:10)
Jesus, help us share the good news of your resurrection with those who mourn and weep.
And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe. (Mark 16:11)
Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.
After that, He appeared in another form to two of them as they walked and went into the country. (Mark 16:12)
Lord Jesus, please walk with us each day and help us as we walk in your ways.
And they went and told it to the rest, but they did not believe them either. (Mark 16:13)
Holy Spirit, soften our hearts.
Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He had risen. (Mark 16:14)
Father, touch the hearts and minds of the leaders and teachers of the Episcopal Church, and help them believe the witness of those who have experienced Jesus and the work of your Holy Spirit in their lives. Thank you.
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen. (Mark 16:15-20)
Lord, write on our hearts the message you want us to share with others. Thank you.
John 21:1-14; A word received: Ask me where to cast your net.
The righteous will flourish like a palm tree, they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon; planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God. They will still bear fruit in old age, they will stay fresh and green, (Psalm 92:12-14)
LORD, please help us to be vigorous, sturdy, and fruitful in old age.
As your days, so shall your strength be. (Deuteronomy 33:25b)
LORD, as our days are, so let our strength be.
Praying the Nicene Creed, a word received 12/29/07: Each day I want you to take a phrase from the Nicene Creed and pray that phrase. My people need to hear what is true and make it their own.
