Eight corners

June 15, 2011

There are eight scriptures revealing Christ as the cornerstone. There are eight corners to a cube. This provides a fascinating insight into this verse of St. Patrick’s Breastplate:

Christ ever with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me
Christ within me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me
Christ to my right side, Christ to my left side
Christ in his breadth, Christ in his length, Christ in depth

Psalm 118:22 (NASB)
The stone which the builders rejected
Has become the chief corner stone.

Isaiah 28:16
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD,
“Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a tested stone,
A costly cornerstone for the foundation, firmly placed.
He who believes in it will not be disturbed.

Matthew 21:42
Jesus said to them, “Did you never read in the Scriptures,
‘THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED,
THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone;
THIS CAME ABOUT FROM THE LORD,
AND IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR EYES’?

Mark 12:10-11
Have you not even read this Scripture:
‘THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone; THIS CAME ABOUT FROM THE LORD, AND IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR EYES’?”

Luke 20:17
But Jesus looked at them and said, “What then is this that is written:
‘THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone’?

Acts 4:11
He is the STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED by you, THE BUILDERS, but WHICH BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone.

Ephesians 2:19-20
So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone,

1 Peter 2:6
For this is contained in Scripture:
“BEHOLD, I LAY IN ZION A CHOICE STONE, A PRECIOUS CORNER stone,
AND HE WHO BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.”

Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.

Acts 2:1-4

June 15, 2011

When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all £with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. (Acts 2:1-4)
Come, Holy Spirit; come as a mighty rushing wind upon us. Come with the fire of your love. Pour out your gifts upon us and help us grow your good fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self-control.

Jesus, raise up devout men and women throughout this diocese who will be filled with your Holy Spirit and receive the full power of the gospel into their hearts and lives.

Holy Father, we ask for this in Jesus’ name. Thank you.

A word received by a member of Christ Church: Do you trust me or do you want to do it yourself?

A word received: Pray for the renewal of my people. Pray they will be faithful in their hearts and steadfast in their speech.
