Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! And he who reaps receives wages, and gathers fruit for eternal life, that both he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored, and you have entered into their labors.” (John 4:34-38 )
A word received: Pray for eyes to see the harvest fields.
A voice was heard on the desolate heights, weeping and supplications of the children of Israel. For they have perverted their way; they have forgotten the LORD their God. (Jeremiah 3:21)
Holy Spirit, help us weep and lament the manner in which the Episcopal Church has perverted its way and forgotten the LORD our God.
“Return, you backsliding children, and I will heal your backslidings.” (Jeremiah 3:22a)
Father, there are so many in the church who have never “frontslid” by accepting you as their Lord and Savior. Have mercy on all those who have lost their way.
“Indeed we do come to you, for you are the LORD our God. (Jeremiah 3:22b)
Jesus, we come to you; help us truly repent of our sins and heresies.
Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains; truly, in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel. (Jeremiah 3:23)
Jesus, in vain the leaders and teachers of the Episcopal Church have looked for salvation in all the wrong places. Please help us return to you. You are the Rock that does not move or shake.
For shame has devoured the labor of our fathers from our youth–their flocks and their herds, their sons and their daughters. (Jeremiah 3:24)
Father, to our shame the patrimony of faith that was handed down through the generations has been squandered. Help us prodigal sons to return to you.
We lie down in our shame, and our reproach covers us. For we have sinned against the LORD our God, We and our fathers, from our youth even to this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.” (Jeremiah 3:25)
Jesus, help us recognize and repent of our sins; help us obey the voice of the LORD our God.
As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for you, O God. (Psalm 42:1)
Help us to thirst for you, O God.

God has saved my life several times. I have been the target of a terrorist bullet three times. To hear the buzzing sting fly by you is, in a word, terrifying! I have been blown up by bombs five times. I was wounded above the left eye by a terrorist. Once I drowned in a scuba diving accident. I came as “close to death without dying” as one doctor had ever seen due to the swine flu. That is eleven times. At number nine I used to say I am glad I am not a cat, I am very glad I am a Christian! It is so good to be alive. Enjoy your life. Hey, have fun. John 10:10 (KJV) writes, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
