Matt. 13:18-23

“Therefore hear the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.” (Matthew 13:18-19)
Holy Spirit, bring to repentance all those who would snatch away the word that has been sown in peoples’ hearts.

“But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;” (Matthew 13:20)
Lord, break up all the stony ground in my heart so that your word can grow and flourish.

“yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.” (Matthew 13:21)
Jesus, these are times of tribulation for many of your people. Encourage them daily with your Holy Spirit. Let you word take root in their hearts.

“Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.” (Matthew 13:22)
Father, like the Rich Young Ruler, we get distracted by the cares and riches of this world (see Luke 18:18-23) and miss the opportunity to follow Jesus. Help us to be willing to lay aside everything to follow as his disciples.

“But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” (Matthew 13:23)
Jesus, please help us daily to be disciples who follow you and produce an abundant harvest for God’s kingdom. Thank you.

      Remember joy?
      Don’t leave home without it!
Don’t leave it at home when you go to work today.
      Take joy with you!
      Spread joy around the place.
Leave some by the water cooler.
      Give joy to someone today.
“The joy of the Lord, is my strength…”
      Nehemiah 8:10
