GC2012–the first intercession of Moses

July 9, 2012

The TEC HoB overwhelmingly passes same sex union blessing authorization.

Exodus 32:11-14 (NIV)
But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God. “Lord,” he said, “why should your anger burn against your people, whom you brought out of Egypt with great power and a mighty hand? Why should the Egyptians say, ‘It was with evil intent that he brought them out, to kill them in the mountains and to wipe them off the face of the earth’? Turn from your fierce anger; relent and do not bring disaster on your people. Remember your servants Abraham, Isaac and Israel, to whom you swore by your own self: ‘I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and I will give your descendants all this land I promised them, and it will be their inheritance forever.’” Then the Lord relented and did not bring on his people the disaster he had threatened.

GC2012–Our descendants

Deuteronomy 5:8-10 (NIV)
“You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

I am concerned about the possibility of generational consequences of ungodly votes, a subject that is never mentioned. (I am not claiming that every malady is due to the sins of our ancestors.) I don’t fully understand the existence of generational curses, and how they apply to the lives of professing Christians, but these are God’s words.–JW

Our Father in heaven,
We cry out for the deputies and bishops who make votes at General Convention that are an offense to You. They see through a glass darkly and do not fully understand what they are doing. Forgive them.
Even moreso, Father, we cry out for their descendants. If generational curses are the inevitable consequence of these votes, then we plea for supernatural aid for their descendants. We bless our enemies, and we bless their descendants.
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Lastly, Father, we plea for mercy for Your children who remain in membership in the Episcopal Church and for their descendants. Shield the faithful from the consequences of corporate sins, we plea. Hold them close under Your wing. Grant them a full measure of wisdom, courage, and love in these difficult times. Amen.

Rom. 8:26-30

July 9, 2012

Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. (Romans 8:26)
Holy Spirit, please help us in our weakness. Pray through us for the Father’s kingdom purposes.

Now he who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:27)
Holy Spirit, help us to be intercessors for the whole Body of Christ — for the lost and the least, for the great and the powerful, and for our brothers and sisters in the pews next to us.

Jesus, we long to intercede for others according to the mind of your Spirit.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28 )
Father, we cry out to you for those need who are called according to your good purposes.

For whom he foreknew, he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. (Romans 8:29)
Holy Spirit, conform us to the image of Jesus; help us to have his mind in us.

Moreover whom He predestined, these he also called; whom he called, these he also justified; and whom he justified, these he also glorified. (Romans 8:30)
      Jesus, Thank you for
            Calling us
            Justifying us
            Bringing us to your glory.

A word received: Pray that my people will know me.

I have a prayer request. There is a great lady I’ve known since I was a child. She’s very sick. On top of that, she’s being abused by many of those to whom she has given everything, it breaks my heart. It seems there’s nothing I can do alone. But maybe, if we join in and lift her up God will heal her. She is well over two hundred years old but way to young to die. Her name is America and I love her. Will you please pray for her? ~Unknown.
2 Chronicles 7:14 writes:
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

Subject: Phew…near miss A day in the life of a priest.
So, I am driving home after the healing service tonight with all my windows open. A bat flys in through the car window and hangs onto the head rest of the passenger side seat. A rat with wings! Nasty. I pull over, real quick and search the car. You see I really don’t like bats! Blood pressure off the charts… Major adrenalin rush. Flash light out, no bat. Pull away and then the bat starts flying around the car again, in my space… Wow, this is nasty. I pull over, flashers on, open the off side doors and begin the search again. Please don’t bite me Mr. Bat.

So a police car stops. “Are you Ok Father?” the trooper asks. “Nope, not really.” I respond as calmly as I could…Well now it gets really interesting. So here am I a priest, with my collar on with a police car behind me, flashing lights etc. and the trooper and I are searching the car for a bat! He tells me, “They can get into really small spaces Father.” I say, “Thank you.”

Not really sure what people thought when they drove by in this small village of Greenwich. That priest been drinking, that priest doing drugs? We could not find the bat. I am still shaking… I do hope and pray it is not in the car tomorrow! Please pray that it has flown the coop, as it were… Nasty experience. Don’t recommend it! Ok Robin, where’s Batman when you need him? Calm now down Mumford. ~ Fr. Nigel Mumford

GC2012–Anglicans United prayer request

Cherie Wetzel speaks of the spirits of narcissism, division, and fear that she has witnessed.

Father in heaven,
We have fallen short of Your glory. We have sinned.
Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Help us to recognize Christ, to seek His presence, and to conform our minds to His mind,

Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death —
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

The spirits of narcissism, division, and fear must bow their knees to Jesus Christ. Amen. Amen. Amen.
