Psalm 119:33-40 and Sunday School Lesson

July 18, 2012

Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes, and I shall keep it to the end. (Psalm 119:33)
O LORD, teach us the way of your statutes and keep us steady in you to the end.

Give me understanding, and I shall keep your law; indeed, I shall observe it with my whole heart. (Psalm 119:34)
Give the leaders and people of this diocese understanding so that we may keep to your ways.

Make me walk in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it. (Psalm 119:35)
Holy Spirit, please help us delight in the path you have marked out for us and turn neither to the right nor the left.

Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to covetousness. (Psalm 119:36)
Incline our hearts to your testimonies and set us free of envy of others.

Turn away my eyes from looking at worthless things, and revive me in £your way. (Psalm 119:37)
Jesus, restore our sight and help us keep our eyes on you. As you did with Bartimaeus, open our eyes so that we may follow you. (See Mark 10:46-52)

Establish your word to your servant, who is devoted to fearing you. (Psalm 119:38 )
Father, establish your word in our hearts so that we may fear to offend you.

Turn away my reproach which I dread, for your judgments are good. (Psalm 119:39)
Jesus, let your blood shed for me on the cross cover over all my sins.

Behold, I long for Your precepts; revive me in your righteousness. (Psalm 119:40)
Revive us, LORD, pour out your Holy Spirit upon us. Let the river of your Spirit flow through this diocese.
