Matthew 26:57-58 and Sunday School Lesson

And those who had laid hold of Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end. (Matthew 26:57-58 )
Jesus, so many follow you at a distance and remain observers rather than participants. Have mercy on us.

Holy Spirit, as you did with Peter, do also with all those who sit on the side-lines and move them into active discipleship.

Father, thank you that you forgive us all our failures of courage and enable us to find forgiveness through the blood of Jesus and new life through your Holy Spirit. Thank you.

Thank you for your word in Scripture and your words to us today.
