Lamentations 4:11-13 (NASB)

11 The Lord has accomplished His wrath,
He has poured out His fierce anger;
And He has kindled a fire in Zion
Which has consumed its foundations.
12 The kings of the earth did not believe,
Nor did any of the inhabitants of the world,
That the adversary and the enemy
Could enter the gates of Jerusalem.
13 Because of the sins of her prophets
And the iniquities of her priests,
Who have shed in her midst
The blood of the righteous;

Lord, have mercy on my nation, where 54 million abortions have taken place.
Christ, have mercy on my denomination, which is a member of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.
Lord, have mercy on the prophets and priests who advocate abortion.

Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Psalm 49:13-15

October 31, 2012

This is the way of those who are foolish, and of their posterity who approve their sayings. Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall be consumed in the grave, far from their dwelling. (Psalm 49:13-14)
      Lord Jesus Christ, we cry out to you for all those who are caught up in the folly of this generation: have mercy on them and turn their steps into your ways.

But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, for he shall receive me. (Psalm 49:15)
      “I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; I myself will see him with my own eyes–I, and not as a stranger. How my heart yearns within me!” (Job 19:25-27)
      Jesus, you are my refuge and my redeemer and healer. Thank you.

            A General Confession.
      ALMIGHTY and most merciful Father; We have erred, and strayed from thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; And there is no health in us. But thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare thou those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore thou those who are penitent; According to thy promises declared unto mankind In Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake; That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, To the glory of thy holy Name. Amen. (BCP 1928 )

A word received: Speak to me. I AM listening.

A word received 6/4/2009: Pray for this nation. Pray for wise and godly men and women who will lead my people in my ways. Pray for the courts, that they will do true justice. Pray for the Congress and the legislatures, that they will have a spirit of wisdom and discernment. Pray for the President and the Governors, that their hearts will be turned into my ways.

Hurricane Sandy – Prayer for those facing “monumental troubles”

October 30, 2012

Scotty Smith at his blog Heavenward has a very good prayer for those facing the devastation of Hurricane Sandy.
I recommend it highly

An excerpt:

 Dear heavenly Father, at the break of this very day, there are millions of people in our country who are facing monumental troubles. It’s no mere metaphor. The heart of the sea is raging, waters are roaring and all kinds of things are falling down. A rather genteel named storm, “Sandy,” is wreaking havoc in the northeast part of our country.

     The rich and poor, the proud and the humble; the young and the elderly, alike, are vulnerable, out of control and fearful. We cry out to you on their behalf. Oh, mighty and merciful God, show your arm and your heart, as we trust you for protection and provision. In the surging sea, through the deluging rain, with the falling snow, cause the streams of providence and the river of grace to flow. Bring transcendent peace into the growing chaos; bring heavenly wisdom into the mounting confusion; bring transforming hope into the multiplying fears.
Read it all.

Father, You are a holy God, and You cannot share Your glory with lies.
Jesus, Lord of life, in You no death can dwell.
Holy Spirit, open our eyes and our ears that we may recognize the lies and the death sequestered in our hearts.
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, You are our God. Be like a living lever, dislodging the lies and breaking our soul ties with death. Help us to be holy, we pray. Amen.

Psalm 107:40 (NASB)
He pours contempt upon princes
And makes them wander in a pathless waste.

Job 12:21 (AMP)
He pours contempt on princes and loosens the belt of the strong [disabling them, bringing low the pride of the learned].

Lord Jesus,
You are the Son of God. You appeared for this purpose–to destroy the works of the devil.
We see through a glass darkly. We don’t know if there are demonic forces involved in the disciplinary actions against the Rt Rev. Peter H. Beckwith, the Rt Rev Maurice M. Benitez, the Rt Rev John W. Howe, the Rt Rev Paul E. Lambert, the Rt Rev William H. Love, the Rt Rev D. Bruce MacPherson, the Rt Rev Daniel H. Martins, the Rt. Rev. Edward L. Salmon, Jr, and the Rt Rev James M. Stanton. If there are such forces, we bind them up in Your name, the name that is above every name in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, and we ask You, Jesus, to pour Your contempt upon them. Amen.

Hurricane Sandy–Psalm 93

October 30, 2012

Psalm 93 (ESV)

The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty;
the Lord is robed; he has put on strength as his belt.
Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved.
Your throne is established from of old;
you are from everlasting.

The floods have lifted up, O Lord,
the floods have lifted up their voice;
the floods lift up their roaring.
Mightier than the thunders of many waters,
mightier than the waves of the sea,
the Lord on high is mighty!

Your decrees are very trustworthy;
holiness befits your house,
O Lord, forevermore.

O Lord on high,
You are a mighty God. You are our protection and provision. Our fate is in Your hands. We thank You for Your tender mercies during this storm, for the lives saved, for the countless acts of generosity and courage.
As the natural winds blow across the northeastern United States, we declare that the move of the Holy Spirit will manifest with even greater power–more power in New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Connecticut, more power in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Rhode Island, more power in Ohio, West Virginia, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Maine.
Come, Holy Spirit, come. Come now. Come with more power. Amen.
