Psalm 11:3-4

October 17, 2012

If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do? (Psalm 11:3)
Psalm 11:3 asks the question, “If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?” A more colloquial translation puts it, “What can a good person do when things fall apart?”

The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD’S throne is in heaven; his eyes behold, his eyelids test the sons of men. (Psalm 11:4)
The answer comes in verse 4: “The LORD is in his holy temple …” It then goes on to say what God will do, but the answer begins with “The LORD is in his holy temple”. We need to know that God IS and that he rewards the just and the unjust. His mercy is never failing. He longs for us to turn to him when “things fall apart.”

Psalm 11:3, a word received: I AM here — turn to me.
