South Carolina

October 23, 2012

The Diocese of South Carolina has entered a season of uncertainty and sacrifice. May it also be a season of leaning their whole weight upon Jesus, their Captain. This hymn is “Captain of Israel’s host, and guide ” by Charles Wesley.

2 Timothy 2:3 (ESV)
Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

2 Corinthians 3:17 (Amplified Bible)
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (emancipation from bondage, freedom).

1 Captain of Israel’s host and guide
of all who seek the land above,
beneath thy shadow we abide,
the cloud of thy protecting love;
our strength, thy grace; our rule, thy word;
our end, the glory of the Lord.

2 By thine unerring Spirit led,
we shall not in the desert stray;
we shall not full direction need,
nor miss our providential way;
as far from danger as from fear
while love, almighty love, is near.

3 We’ve no abiding city here,
but seek a city out of sight;
thither our steady course we steer,
aspiring to the plains of light:
Jerusalem the saints’ abode,
whose founder is the living God.

Jeremiah 44:20-23 ESV
Then Jeremiah said to all the people, men and women, all the people who had given him this answer: “As for the offerings that you offered in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, you and your fathers, your kings and your officials, and the people of the land, did not the Lord remember them? Did it not come into his mind? The Lord could no longer bear your evil deeds and the abominations that you committed. Therefore your land has become a desolation and a waste and a curse, without inhabitant, it is this day. It is because you made offerings and because you sinned against the Lord and did not obey the voice of the Lord or walk in his law and in his statutes and in his testimonies that this disaster has happened to you, as at this day.”

Our Father in heaven,
We have sacrificeed our unborn children to Properity, to Convenience, to Social Respectability, to Secrecy, to Autonomy.
Lord, have mercy upon our land.
Christ, have mercy upon our land.
Lord, have mercy upon our land. Amen.

Luke 10:1-5

October 23, 2012

After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before his face into every city and place where he himself was about to go. (Luke 10:1)
      Jesus, send your witnesses among us and set your face to come into our city.

Then he said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Luke 10:2)
      LORD, the harvest fields are there all around us — send more laborers into them. Give your people a heart to go into the harvest fields. Bless those who serve on prayer tables around the diocese.

“Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.” (Luke 10:3)
      Holy Spirit, please help us go forth as lambs among wolves knowing that Jesus is our shepherd and he will be with us whatever happens.

“Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road.” (Luke 10:4)
      Father, keep us from getting side-tracked thinking we need a lot of “stuff” to do ministry.

“But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.'” (Luke 10:5)
      Jesus, please help us go forward with your word of “Peace” as we meet people. Thank you.

A word received: Look to me. I AM light in the darkness.
