Praise

The name Arioch means servant of the moon god. Arioch was the captain of Nebuchadnezzar’ guard, commissioned to kill the wise men of Babylon for not being able to tell the king his dream. Daniel and his three friends pray, and the dream is revealed to Daniel in a night vision. Interestingly, Daniel’s blessing challenges moon worship in two phrases: “he changes times and seasons” and “light dwells with him.”
Today, moon worship can be found in Hinduism, witchcraft, neopagan religions, and astrology.

Daniel 2:20-23 (NIV)

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his.
He changes times and seasons;
he deposes kings and raises up others.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.
He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what lies in darkness,
and light dwells with him.
I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors:
You have given me wisdom and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,
you have made known to us the dream of the king

Ezekiel 46:13-15 (NIV)
“‘Every day you are to provide a year-old lamb without defect for a burnt offering to the Lord; morning by morning you shall provide it. You are also to provide with it morning by morning a grain offering, consisting of a sixth of an ephah with a third of a hin of oil to moisten the flour. The presenting of this grain offering to the Lord is a lasting ordinance. So the lamb and the grain offering and the oil shall be provided morning by morning for a regular burnt offering.

Because of Your great love, Lord, we are not consumed, for Your compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. May Mark, Peter, Maurice, John, Paul, William, Bruce, Daniel, Edward, and James say, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” (Lamentations 3:22-24)

Isaiah 50:4 (NIV)
The Sovereign Lord has given me a well-instructed tongue,
to know the word that sustains the weary.
He wakens me morning by morning,
wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.

Because of Your great love, Lord, we are not consumed, for Your compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. Waken the ear of Mark, Peter, Maurice, John, Paul, William, Bruce, Daniel, Edward, and James to listen like one being instructed.” (Lamentations 3:22-24)

Zephaniah 3:5 (NIV)
The Lord within her is righteous;
he does no wrong.
Morning by morning he dispenses his justice,
and every new day he does not fail,
yet the unrighteous know no shame.

Because of Your great love, Lord, we are not consumed, for Your compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. May Mark, Peter, Maurice, John, Paul, William, Bruce, Daniel, Edward, and James trust in Your unfailing justice every new day.” (Lamentations 3:22-24)

Luke 18:35-43

November 27, 2012

Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging. And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant. So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Luke 18:35-39)
      Holy Spirit, help us repent of desiring order and decorum more than having people find and meet Jesus.

So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to him. And when he had come near, he asked him, (Luke 18:40)
      Jesus, thank you that you hear us when we cry out to you and bid us come to you. Help each of us respond to your call to us.

saying, “What do you want me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.” (Luke 18:41)
      Jesus, thank you that you care to hear our heart’s desires. Thank you that you care for us and listen to us. Help us daily listen to you and to each other and pray for each other.

Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God. (Luke 18:42-43)
      Father, thank you for sending Jesus into our lives to minister healing to us. Help each of us in this diocese receive new sight at his hands and follow him, giving praise to you. Thank you.

A word received: My laws and my statutes are there to protect you. Don’t step outside my protection.
