Romans 1:1-7

January 1, 2013

Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God (Romans 1:1)
Lord, as you separated Paul out to do apostolic ministry, separate us out to reach out to others with the good news of gospel. Give us that willingness to be different.

which he promised before through his prophets in the Holy Scriptures, (Romans 1:2)
Holy Spirit, write the promises of the Holy Scriptures on our hearts.

concerning his son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, (Romans 1:3)
Father, thank you for fulfilling all that you promised to your servant David through your son Jesus.

and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. (Romans 1:4)
Father, let the power of your Holy Spirit come upon us and raise us to new life in Jesus.

Through him we have received grace and apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for his name, (Romans 1:5)
Jesus, please help us receive the grace of obedience to the faith and go forth to the nations at your bidding to bring glory to your name.

among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ; (Romans 1:6)
Holy Spirit, help each of us answer the call of Jesus.

To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 1:7)
LORD God, give us your grace and peace.

A word received: Place your fears in my hands.

A word received: Look to me for help.
