Psalm 31:1-5

March 18, 2013

In you, O LORD, I put my trust; let me never be ashamed; deliver me in your righteousness. (Psalm 31:1)
LORD, we choose to put our trust in you and your righteousness.

Bow down your ear to me, deliver me speedily; be my rock of refuge, a fortress of defense to save me. (Psalm 31:2)
Jesus, you are our rock of refuge, our fortress and our strong, high tower — thank you for hearing our cry.

For you are my rock and my fortress; therefore, for your name’s sake, lead me and guide me. (Psalm 31:3)
Holy Spirit, for the sake of the name of Jesus, lead us and guide us day by day.

Pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me, for you are my strength. (Psalm 31:4)
Father, we look to you to deliver us from every trap of the evil one and those who follow him.

Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. (Psalm 31:5)
Jesus, I commit myself into your care and love — thank you for speaking your word of truth to me and holding me by your hand. You are my redeemer and I look to you this day for your help. Thank you.

Matthew 11:12 (ESV, alternate translation, using footnote)
From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has been coming violently, and the violent take it by force.

Praise the Lord!

Sing to the Lord a new song.
Sing his praises in the assembly of the faithful.
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
O England, rejoice in your Maker.
O people of the Church of England, exult in your King.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in the Church of England
Praise his name with dancing,
accompanied by tambourine and harp.
For the Lord delights in his people;
he crowns the humble with victory.
As it is in heaven.
Let the faithful rejoice that he honors them.
Let them sing for joy as they lie on their beds.
Let the praises of God be in their mouths,
and Holy Scripture, the sword of the Spirit, in their hands.

Praise the Lord!
