Psalm 100

August 13, 2013

Make a joyful shout to the LORD, all you lands! (Psalm 100:1)
      LORD, let your joy be our strength. Help us come into your presence with shouts of joy.

Serve the LORD with gladness; come before his presence with singing. (Psalm 100:2)
      Jesus, please help us serve you by our singing and joy.

Know that the LORD, he is God; it is he who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people and the sheep of his pasture. (Psalm 100:3)
      Father, you have made us — we are yours. Help us lay down our lives and our ambitions in order to serve you.

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. be thankful to him, and bless his name. (Psalm 100:4)
      Holy Spirit, help us daily offer the sacrifice of thanksgiving. Thank you.

For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting, and his truth endures to all generations. (Psalm 100:5)
      LORD, thank you for your goodness to us. Help us daily abide in your truth. Thank you.

Honduras–cloud forest

August 13, 2013

Cloud forests are similar to rain forests, but the key difference is that cloud forests receive a lot less rain. They get most of their moisture directly from being enveloped in clouds, not from rain falling from the sky. Cloud forests are usually at higher altitudes. The clouds are pushed by tradewinds up against the slopes of the mountains.
A cloud forest is a unique environment. Wildlife diversity (the number of species) living inside of these zones is incredible. Cloud forests are also a critical source of fresh water.

Genesis 1:6-8 (MSG)
God spoke: “Sky! In the middle of the waters;
separate water from water!”
God made sky.
He separated the water under sky
from the water above sky.
And there it was:
he named sky the Heavens;
It was evening, it was morning—
Day Two.

Lord Jesus Christ, Incarnate Word,
You were in the beginning with God. All things were made through You, and without You was not any thing made that was made. Just as You set the boundary between the water under the sky and the water above the sky, we humbly ask You to teach the people of Honduras to set the boundaries between the sacred and profane.
Just as You granted the nation fresh water from both rain and the clouds, we pray for a double portion of living water. Come, Lord Jesus and envelop this land! In You is life, abundance of life. Amen.
