Mark 11:25-26

August 19, 2013

“And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25-26)
Jesus, cleanse your church by bringing us all to a place where we will forgive one another, each from his own heart.

Holy Spirit, please help us to forgive so that we may be forgiven.

Heavenly Father, we want your kingdom to come and your will to be done: help us forgive one another. Thank you.

Monday: 106:1-18 * 106:19-48; 2 Samuel 17:24-18:8; Acts 22:30-23:11; Mark 11:12-26
Tuesday: [120], 121, 122, 123 * 124, 125, 126, [127]; 2 Samuel 18:9-18; Acts 23:12-24; Mark 11:27-12:12

Honduras–domestic abuse

August 19, 2013

From Project Hope:

Until 1997, assaulting a wife or a girlfriend wasn’t considered a crime in Honduras. One year after the Law Against Domestic Violence took effect making domestic violence and sexual harassment criminal offenses approximately 3,000 women who filed complaints under protection of the new law were still waiting for their day in court. Unfortunately, domestic violence still remains commonplace today. According to the United Nations Population Fund’s State of the World Population 2005 report, in Honduras, almost one in six women over age 14 reports having been the victim of physical violence. While official Honduran statistics estimate incidents of domestic violence occur every 45 minutes, unofficial data compiled by women’s organizations show that the actual rate is closer to every 20 minutes.

Christ Jesus,
Oh, the magnitude of meekness! Bruised and scourged, You suffered for our transgressions, indeed for the transgressions of Honduras. The cross, the cords, the nails, the spear, the myrrh, the gall, the vinegar were endured for this land. You who knew no sin were made to be sin for us all and for the people of Honduras. May Honduras be made the righteousness of God in You. Amen.
2 Corinthians 5:11
