Mark 12:41-44

August 23, 2013

Now Jesus sat opposite the treasury and saw how the people put money into the treasury. And many who were rich put in much. Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. So he called his disciples to himself and said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” (Mark 12:41-44)
Holy Spirit, guide us in our giving. Please help us find the freedom to give as this poor widow did.

Jesus, you are our provider — help us daily trust in you for our needed provision.

Father, please give us this day’s bread. Thank you.

A word received: Keep your eyes on me when things are difficult.

Honduras–Lake Yojoa

August 23, 2013

Lake Yojoa is the largest lake in Honduras and is a popular fishing destination. It lies in a depression formed by volcanoes.

Mark 1:16-20 (AKJV)
Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him. And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets. And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.

Our Father in heaven,
We give You the glory due Your name. We worship You in the beauty of holiness. Your voice is upon the waters of Lake Yojoa. The God of glory will thunder across Lake Yojoa, will thunder across the many waters of Honduras. The voice of God will thunder with a great thunder and discomfit any Philistine spirits at work in Honduras. The Lord is upon all of the waters of Honduras. The voice of the Lord is powerful. The voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
Holy Spirit, call Honduras to rise into her God-given identity–to be fishers of men, anointed for evangelism, speaking the truth to liberate, and giving life to others.
Arise, Honduras! Arise!
Psalm 29:2-4, 1 Samuel 7
