From Wikipedia: The people of Honduras are among the poorest in Latin America; Gross national income per capita (2007) is $US 1,649; the average for Central America is $US 6,736. Honduras is the third poorest country in the Western Hemisphere; only Haiti and Nicaragua are poorer. As with most Latin American countries, Honduras’s economy is closely tied to the United States. The United States is Honduras’s primary trading partner and the source of about two-thirds of the country’s foreign direct investment. United States multinationals Dole Food Company and Chiquita control a large portion of Honduras’s agricultural exports. Hondurans working in the U.S. send more than US$2 billion each year to their families in Honduras; these remittances account for 28.2% of Honduras’s GDP.
“But Lord , ” Gideon asked, “how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
The LORD answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites together.” Judges 6:15-16
O Father in heaven,
Your strength is made perfect in our weakness. The Midianite raids at harvest time created a cyclical devouring of Israel’s wealth. It was not Your intent for the seasons of Israel to be devoured, and it is not Your intent for the seasons of the Hondurans to be devoured.
Open the eyes of Your children in Honduras to renounce the spirits of control, sloth, comfort-seeking, and faithlessness in their lives and in their bloodlines. Teach them to recognize and repudiate the deception of the enemy. At every point where Satan cursed them, where You desire to release blessings, let Your will be done. Amen.
