Who has believed our message and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? (Isaiah 53:1)
LORD, please reveal your arm to us so that we might know your saving power.
He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. (Isaiah 53:2)
Jesus, so many despise you to this day. I’m sorry about that. Help me to make your love and compassion known to the lost and the least.
He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. (Isaiah 53:3)
Jesus, thank you for sharing in my sorrows and griefs. Thank you for being there in all the old wounds I’m afraid to let anyone see.
Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. (Isaiah 53:4)
Jesus, thank you for carrying my griefs and sorrows to your cross.
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)
Thank you, Jesus, for the healing I have experienced through your wounds and blood shed for me. Thank you for the healing that is yet to come.
We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all. (Isaiah 53:6)
I did wander far away — thank you for shepherding me back to the fold.
A word received: I AM your strength and your stability.
