Schenectady City Mission Prayer Table Report, Thursday, October 03, 2013, 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.. Torre and Jean Bissell, and Chuck Rinaldo from Christ Church Schenectady. This took place during the evening meal at the City Mission.

+–indicates received a wooden cross made by Dennis Adams of North Carolina

Ted (volunteer) — His daughter Camille finally got in to see a specialist for lyme disease. The charge for the injections is $250/week which is not covered by the insurance. The insurance company won’t pay for the treatments, so we went over the company’s head and went to the Lord about it. We also prayed for our country.

Dan — We prayed for a job for his daughter Julia to stabilize her life.

+a Josh (young man we haven’t seen in about 2 months) –We prayed for protection and blessing and strength to resist temptation. It was a blessing for us to see him again.

We prayed for peace in the Schenectady City Mission Community Meal and that people who come to it would recognize it as holy ground.

Gary — “I need to lose 30 pounds.” We prayed for strength to resist temptation.

+B.J. (volunteer) — We prayed that all that he does will be in service to Jesus.

+Chauncy (man) — He came to give God thanks for all the blessings he has received at His hand.

Matt. 7:22-29

October 3, 2013

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of my Father in heaven. (Matthew 7:21)
Jesus, help us make you Lord of our lives in deed as well as in word.

Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name, cast out demons in your name, and done many wonders in your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matthew 7:22-23)
Jesus, please help us by your Holy Spirit to live within the boundaries your Father has set for us to live in.

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. (Matthew 7:24-25)
Jesus, you are our rock. Help us to build only on you so that we may endure.

But everyone who hears these sayings of mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” (Matthew 7:26-27)
Lord, so much that seemed magnificent and strong is being swept away in the flood of ungodliness sweeping through our nation and your church.

And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. (Matthew 7:28-29)
Jesus, even today people are astonished by your teaching and your authority. Help the leaders and teachers and people of the Episcopal Church submit to your authority and know you as Lord as well as Savior. Thank you.

From Wikipedia: In 1783, the Bani Utbah tribe captured Bahrain and has since been ruled by the Al Khalifa royal family. Bahrain is a constitutional monarchy headed by the King, Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He enjoys wide executive authorities which include appointing the Prime Minister and his ministers, commanding the army, chairing the Higher Judicial Council, appointing the parliament’s upper half and dissolving its elected lower half. The head of government is the unelected Prime Minister, Shaikh Khalīfa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the uncle of the current king who has served in this position since 1971, making him the longest serving prime minister in the world. In 2010, about half of the government was composed of Al Khalifa family.

In 2008, Houda Nonoo was appointed ambassador to the United States making her the first Jewish ambassador of any Arab country. In 2011, Alice Samaan, a Christian woman was appointed ambassador to the UK.

Jehovah Tsidkenu,
We bless the Al Khalifa family. You know their needs. Bless them at their points of need. Open their eyes to see what You would have them see, their ears to hear what You would have them hear, and their hearts to love what You would have them love. Amen.
