Syria

From the BBC: Peace talks between Assad’s government and opposition forces end in recriminations. Ahmed Jarba said Geneva talks were like drinking from a poisoned chalice.

Triune God,
Would that in Syria there was one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and they for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom they lived. Would that there was one body and one Spirit. Would that they were called to the one hope–one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Amen.
Ephesians 4:4-6, 1 Corinthians 8:5-6

Luke 2:25-33

February 2, 2014

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. (Luke 2:25-26)
Holy Spirit, give us a heart to wait on you and your timing as you did with Simeon. Help us in our day to see the consolation of your people.

So he came by the Spirit into the temple. And when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the law, (Luke 2:27)
Holy Spirit, direct our footsteps for those divine encounters as you did with Simeon.

he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said: (Luke 2:28 )
Father, please help us take up all that you send us and bless you for doing that.

“Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace, according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation which you have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” (Luke 2:29-32)
Jesus, help each of us by meeting you go to our rest in your peace and light. Thank you.

And Joseph and his mother marveled at those things which were spoken of him. (Luke 2:33)
Holy Spirit, help us marvel and meditate on all that we see you doing in Jesus.
