Hebrews 11:6-12

February 3, 2014

But without faith it is impossible to please him, for he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)
Father, please help me diligently seek you.

By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. (Hebrews 11:7)
Jesus, help me follow in Noah’s footsteps and do and say those things which will bring my whole family to salvation.

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. (Hebrews 11:8 )
Holy Spirit, please help me by faith to follow the path Abraham took so that I may receive the inheritance you have for me. I don’t need to know where I am going; I only need to know I am following Jesus.

By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; (Hebrews 11:9)
Father, help me by faith live in your promises along with all my children and theirs.

for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God. (Hebrews 11:10)
Lord, I wait for that city which you are building. All around me I see a city that is collapsing into drugs and corruption. Bring us by faith to the city you are building.

By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged him faithful who had promised. (Hebrews 11:11)
Holy Spirit, please help us like Sarah to be fruitful in old age. As our days are, so let our strength be.

Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude–innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore. (Hebrews 11:12)
Father, thank you for faith in you making me a child of Abraham and an heir to your promises to him.

A word received: See my care for you.

A word received: Blessed is the man who trusts in me.
