Genesis 8:18-20a, 9:8-13 (ESV)
So Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him. Every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves on the earth, went out by families from the ark.
Then Noah built an altar to the Lord . . . .
Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him, “Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.”

Creator God,
In the beginning, You created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And Your Spirit was hovering over the face of the waters. And You said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
The life of Your Son Jesus was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Jesus is the light of the world. Whoever follows Him does not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
The Light shining through the waters of the sky reveals the manifold splendor of God’s glory. Just as white light contains many colors, so does Your Son, Jesus Christ the Messiah, from the root of Jesse, display the Spirit of Jehovah, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and might, The spirit of knowledge and fear of Jehovah.
The jewels on Aaron’s breastplate and Joseph’s coat of many colors were outward and visible signs of God’s anointing. We pray that You will raise up in the Diocese of Bath and Wells men and women who will manifest the fullness of the splendor of Your glory. May they walk in the light of life, the light of Your covenant love. May they lead the Church of England in paths of righteousness. Amen.
