Mark 4:24-25

March 21, 2014

Then he said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.” (Mark 4:24-25)
Holy Spirit, please help us understand the consequences of what we choose to hear. Listening to gossip or evil-speaking about others is the poison that drains us of all that is good in us. Refusing to listen to gossip helps us retain the good you have given us and more good will be added to that.

Jesus, please help your people turn off “Talk Radio” and all the evil speaking of others that goes out from those programs.

Father, you have made our ears, our eyes, all the parts of our body. We are made in your image. Help us keep that image clean and shining by what we choose to hear and see. Thank you.

A word received: Take my hand and I will lead you.

A prayer received: Give us a hunger for you.

A word received: Come to me. Give your burdens to me. I can carry them.

A word received: Come, spend time with me.

A word received: Put your trust in me as Abraham did.

A word received: Do not forget my little ones.

A word received: Let me direct your path.

A word received: Be still and know that I am God.

A word received: Do my will.

A word received: Look to me; I will direct your path.

      Notes from the Front Line

***** City Mission Prayer Table, March 20, 2014 – Chuck Rinaldo

Ted – His daughter, Camilla, has Lyme disease. She is taking a new round of 4 different antibiotics and able to tolerate these better than the first ones. She and Ted are going to the Spiritual Life Center on April 1 for healing service. Pray for God to touch, refresh and heal.

Ron – Pray for protection over his young daughter Isabella while she is staying with her mother. He is completing paperwork to have full custody of her. He also asked prayer for healing of Torre’s back and that he will get relief from pain.

Smiley – Pray for continued healing and strength; to regain full mobility.

Tiesha – being tested for colon cancer; has bleeding. We prayed for this, just like the woman in the bible who touched Jesus’ clothes and was healed…that God will provide a miracle that will heal her. Pray she will realize her healing is from God and will give Him the glory.

Gary – Prayer for provision. Pray for his son, Josh, to find a Christian girlfriend. Pray he will know when to speak and when to keep silent.

Steve – He is spiritually, a very mixed up person. I ask we pray that God’s truth and the light of Christ break through to him.

Lent quotes: Our most subtle temptation

March 21, 2014

In his March 17th devotional on the daily office readings, James Gibson, an Anglican priest in South Carolina wrote the following:

The most subtle temptation every Christian faces is the temptation to do something for Jesus before being with Jesus. We would do well to ask ourselves, during this Lenten season of self-examination, just how much the work we do in the name of Jesus reflects the time we spend in the company of Jesus.

Challenging words!!

I recommend checking out the whole devotional.
