And when they saw him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; for they all saw him and were troubled. But immediately he talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” Then he went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened. (Mark 6:49-52)
Jesus, come and meet us where we are as you did with your disciples. If our hearts are hardened (as their’s were), soften them and help us understand your purposes.
And he said, “What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.” (Mark 7:20-23)
Father, please help us repent of all these things which defile us.
Jesus, speak to our hearts and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.
Holy Spirit, convict us of all sins that are hidden in our hearts and minds, and help us bring them to Jesus.
Who remembered us in our lowly state, for his mercy endures forever; and rescued us from our enemies, for his mercy endures forever; who gives food to all flesh, for his mercy endures forever. Oh, give thanks to the God of heaven! For his mercy endures forever. (Psalm 136:23-26)
Father, thank you for remembering us when we were in need. Thank you for providing for us year after year. Thank you! For your mercy endures forever.
A word received: Walk WITH me.
A word received: Abide in me. Let me be your strength.
