Song of Solomon 3:11 (ESV)
Go out, O daughters of Zion,
and look upon King Solomon,
with the crown with which his mother crowned him
on the day of his wedding,
on the day of the gladness of his heart.

Our Father in heaven,
We bless Your holy name and recall all of Your benefits. You work righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. You show compassion to those who fear You. You know our frame and remember that we are dust.
You made known Your ways to Moses and Your acts to the people of Israel. We lift up the descendants of King Solomon now, wherever they might live. Remember Your love for them and crown them with tender mercies–guide their footsteps to Christ Jesus. Jesus heals their diseases, forgives their iniquities, and redeems their lives from the pit.
Make known to them Your acts to the people of Israel through the life of Jesus. A crown of tender mercies for Solomon’s descendants, Lord. A crown of tender mercies. Amen.

John 10:27-29

September 8, 2014

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. (John 10:27)
Jesus, please help me daily hear your voice and follow you. Thank you for knowing me.

And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:28 )
Jesus, thank you that I am safe in your hands.

My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of my Father’s hand. (John 10:29)
Father, thank you for giving me to Jesus and for holding me in your hand.

WORD: Lay the burdens of your hearts before me.
WORD: I AM with you in the hard times.

Ps 20:7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.

Our Father in heaven,
Our faith is so little, our love so cold, our spiritual vision so dim. We in the church in the U.S. are arrogant, trusting in the devices and desires of our own hearts, rather than in Your name. Have mercy, Lord. Have mercy.

Prov 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

We run to Your name.

Ps 9:9-11 The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you. Sing praises to the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done.

We praise Your holy name and proclaim Your mighty works among all of the states of our nation. Amen.

Job 38:25-27 (VOICE)
Who cut the channel for the flooding rivers
or paved a path for the thunderbolt
So that rain might fall on an uninhabited land,
even on a wilderness where no human sets foot
So that the desolate desert and the withering wasteland are satisfied,
so that the grass is made to sprout in that seemingly forsaken place?

Dear Heavenly Father,
There are portions of Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nigeria that are a spiritual wilderness. There are portions that are a social wilderness–quarantined from the rest of the world due to the Ebola epidemic.
Yet You turn the dry, lonely desert into pools of living water, parched ground into lively springs. You allow those who are hungry to live there, sow fields, plant vineyards, and gather an abundant harvest.
Anoint Your children in western and central Africa with Your blessings, that they may prosper spiritually and socially and greatly increase in number. Amen.
Psalm 107:35-38
