Luke 10:38-42

Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. (Luke 10:38 )
Holy Spirit, please help us welcome Jesus into our home as Martha did.

      Jesus, you are welcome here.

And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard his word. But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.” (Luke 10:39-40)
Jesus, help me listen to you as Mary did. Help me put aside all distractions so that I may hear you.

And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:41-42)
Father, please help me make the better choice that Mary made. Thank you.

WORD: Come to me — let me be your guide today.
WORD: Do not be afraid of the wicked; for I see them.
WORD: Pray for my word to lodge in your heart.
Luke 10:2 WORD: Pray for laborers to go forth into my harvest fields.
WORD: Pray for the teachers to be taught by me.
Matthew 22:37-40 WORD: Let loving me and loving your neighbor become the priorities of your life.

***** Schenectady City Mission Prayer Table Report, Thursday, October 23, 2014, 5:05 – 6:30 p.m.. Torre and Jean Bissell, and Chuck Rinaldo from Christ Church Schenectady. This took place during the evening meal at the City Mission.

Ted (volunteer) — We prayed for his granddaughter Camille (she has been suffering from Lyme’s disease for a year and a half). She is getting all her mercury fillings coated. This week Ted was able to help a resident of the Mission move his hospital equipment to his room in the mission.

199 Stephen (young man) — He came over and prayed for Torre. He said Torre prayed for so many others; Torre needed someone to pray for him. He said he could tell Torre was burdened. Stephen was converted while in state prison and was baptized there December 24th, 2012. He reads the Bible daily and prays. He took a “199” to pass on to someone else.

199 (man at the table next to us) — He asked for a copy of the “199”.

Leroy (regular) — We prayed that he would get his own apartment; he is currently living with his son. We prayed for stability in his finances. He is walking better though still using a cane.

Torre, Jean, and Chuck — We prayed for the upcoming women’s conference at Christ Church Schenectady.

+ 199 B Levi (young man, 30) — Levi came to us just as we were packing up to go. He asked how he could honor his mother when she was a drug addict. His father is dead and Levi had spent years in foster care. He wants to be a good father to his children but he is burdened by the past. We led him to give his burdens and sins to Jesus and once again accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He asked for forgiveness of his sins and slowly accepted God’s forgiveness. We showed him that when he accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior that God the Father adopted him as his child (Romans 8:15) — that he was no longer a foster child (his previous self-identity), and that he now had a permanent father who loved him and would always be there for him. This brought him to tears. We gave him a Bible with “I am not a foster child. Rom 8:15” written on the front cover.
