The Poppies… Love Ran Red

Seeing this picture from the Times of London today of the exhibit of ceramic poppies at the Tower of London marking the 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War 1:

and particularly reading the TITLE of the Exhibit:

The bloodswept lands and seas of red where angels dare to tread

I was reminded of Chris Tomlin’s new worship song “Love Ran Red”  The lyrics follow below.  You can listen to the song at WorshipTogether.  How thankful I am this Veterans Day for the Lord’s sacrifice and His blood that cleanses us and bought my life and freedom, just as our veterans sacrifice brought freedom for our countries from war and tyranny.

Verse 1
There’s a place where mercy  reigns
And never dies
There’s a place where streams of grace
Flow deep and  wide
Where all the love I’ve ever found
Comes like a flood, comes flowing down

Chorus
At the cross, at the cross
I surrender my life
I’m in awe of You
I’m in awe of You
Where Your love ran red
And my sin washed white
I owe all to You
I owe all to You, Jesus

Verse 2
There’s a place where sin and shame
Are powerless
And there my heart has peace with God
And forgiveness
Where all the love I’ve ever found
Comes like a flood, comes flowing down

Bridge
Here my hope is found
Here on holy ground
Here I bow down
Here  I bow down
Here arms open wide
Here You save my life
Here I bow down
Here I bow down
