Palestinian bid for statehood

November 29, 2014

From The Jerusalem Post:

Arab foreign ministers decided on Saturday to support the Palestinian Authority’s plan to seek a UN Security Council resolution calling for a full Israeli withdrawal to the pre-1967 lines and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital. . . . The Arab League ministers also reiterated their opposition to Israel’s demand to be recognized as a Jewish state.

Numbers 23:23 (NIV)
There is no divination against Jacob, no evil omens against Israel.

Psalm 33:10 (NIV)
The LORD foils the plans of the nations; he thwarts the purposes of the peoples.

Psalm 121:4 (NIV)
Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

Isaiah 31:5 (NIV)
Like birds hovering overhead, the LORD Almighty will shield Jerusalem; he will shield it and deliver it, he will ‘pass over’ it and will rescue it.”

Insights from Shiloh for the Ebola crisis

November 29, 2014

When the Israelites arrived in the land, they set up the ancient wilderness tent shrine (the Tent of Meeting) in Shiloh and there Joshua divided the land among the tribes. Subsequently, Shiloh became the capital of Israel before the first Temple was built in Jerusalem. The Tent of Meeting was in Shiloh 369 years.
Shiloh means place of rest. The word Shiloh is also generally understood as denoting the Messiah, “the peaceful one.” Today, the community Shiloh is surrounded by farms and vineyards.

Jesus, You are “the peaceful one.” You are our place of rest. In You, we live and move and have our being. May the fruit of Your presence be abundantly manifest in the lives of the Christians in Mali, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Liberia.
Shalom over the Christians in these nations, Lord. Shalom! Shalom! Shalom! Amen.
