The Super Bowl will be held on February 1 in Phoenix, AZ. An influx of human trafficking is expected.
The deceased son of the widow of Nain was carried by four pallbearers holding two poles projecting at each end from the corners of the bier (Luke 7:11-18). The paralytic was carried by four friends, presumably on a stretcher (Mark 2:1-12).
Both were adjacent to a narrow place: the gate of Nain and the hole in the roof. The bier and the paralytic’s mat were carried by four people who were anonymous. Both involved a confrontation between good and evil. The funeral party ran into Jesus and His companions–death vs life. The Pharisees were listening to Jesus when the men made a hole in the roof–hardness of heart vs faith.
O Lord, as victims of human trafficking are carried to Phoenix, stir the hearts of the intercessors to pray for them–four intercessors for each victim. Bring deliverance and freedom at the narrow places. We proclaim over the enslaved:
Life, not death!
Faith, not hardness of heart!
Liberty throughout the land and to all the inhabitants thereof!
Liberty in the United States of America! Amen.
