From the Lectionary for 2015 12 02

Matthew 21:23 (NKJV)
Now when He came into the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people confronted Him as He was teaching, and said, “By what authority are You doing these things? And who gave You this authority?”
Jesus, help us accept the authority of your teaching. Help us to live out and do what you teach.

2 Peter 3:3 (NKJV)
knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts,
Father, this is a generation of scoffers walking after their own lusts; have mercy on us.

Psalm 12:8 (NKJV)
The wicked prowl on every side, when vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
Holy Spirit, bring to repentance those who exalt vileness among us.

Psalm 13:5-6 (NKJV)
But I have trusted in Your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, because He has dealt bountifully with me.
Thank you, LORD, for the way you have dealt with us.

Psalm 14:4 (NKJV)
Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, who eat up my people as they eat bread, and do not call on the LORD?
Jesus, bring to repentance those who honor the workers of iniquity.

Psalm 14:7 (NKJV)
Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When the LORD brings back the captivity of His people, let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.
LORD, bring us back from our captivity.

Word: Tell my people to bless one another. I desire to see my blessings abound among them.

PRAYER TABLE SCENES — (Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, 10-11 a.m. on our church’s front law. Deacon Alan and James Bryant presiding at His table on a cool but sunny morning.) … Lots of people turned out this morning and some came as early as 9:30. ALL of the food was distributed between 10 and 10:15 and James made sure everyone got some items and no one hoarded or took more than they needed. … A great deal of the clean, used clothing provided by thoughtful parishioners who donated was handed out … the faces of the neighbors we live with always look a little bit more desperate at the end of each month when everyone’s pockets naturally are a little more empty. We KNOW our table’s food offering helps them. … please send up your intercessory prayers for MARCIA, DARCY, SUSAN, MARIA, and TONI. The Lord knows the details on each person who needs prayer. … a heartwarming scene we must share: VIRGINIA, an 89-year-old woman who always comes to Community Meal and is a frequent visitor to the table for food, brought in a box load of her own clean, used clothing to give to those more needy than herself. She pressed and ironed each item, too! … Last month, one of the young men working for the city crew that was repairing the damaged drainage area on Division Street in front of our church wondered what we were doing out on the lawn giving out food, clothing and offering prayer. When we told him (JOSE) we are there every Monday morning, he vowed to bring in some used things to share with others. Today, he brought a huge sack of clothing for us to give out. We are seeing many examples like this of people helping each other through His table. What a blessing! See what we started! People helping people. What a great concept. The gospel “Love your neighbor as yourself” is being lived out at St. Ann’s.
