In preparation of the upcoming election, I am looking at our nation’s origins in Philadelphia, PA.–JW
The British Parliament had passed a series of laws that the colonists dubbed “the Intolerable Acts.” In 1774, the Continental Congress declared the Intolerable Acts to be in violation of the colonists’ rights as Englishmen and urged the creation of a revolutionary colonial government. The delegates conceded British rule, but asserted the right to self-government on internal policies and taxation. They accepted royal veto power, but not Parliamentary control.
George III was infuriated at the whole business.
Jeremiah 29:11-14a (NLT)
For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord.
There are yet many godly people in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. We bless their upright influence. May the godly inhabitants of Philadelphia exalt the city and make it prosper.
We invite Your favor, Your plans over Philadelphia to give it a future and a hope. Amen.
