Malachi 3:1-3, 4:4-6

May 13, 2011

“Behold, I send my messenger, and he will prepare the way before me. And the LORD, whom you seek, will suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, in whom you delight. Behold, he is coming,” says the LORD of hosts. (Malachi 3:1)
Come soon, Lord Jesus. Send your messengers among us. Give us ears to hear and hearts to respond to what you are saying through them. Thank you for sending John the Baptist to prepare the way for you.

“But who can endure the day of his coming? And who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like launderers’ soap. (Malachi 3:2)
Holy Spirit, wash us and cleanse us with your refining fire.

He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver; he will purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer to the LORD an offering in righteousness. (Malachi 3:3)
Holy Father, come and purify us; prepare us to be a people who will do your will. Thank you.

“Remember the Law of Moses, my servant, which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. and he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.” (Malachi 4:4-6)
Jesus, send your witnesses among us and turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.
