Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

Jesus, please help me day by day walk by your light. I walked in darkness for so many years; thank you for showing me your light to walk by.

I now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ, for the sake of his body, which is the church, (Colossians 1:24)
Jesus, thank you for your suffering church and those who will die today for the sake of your name. Give them strength to endure to the end and help us recognize the great debt we owe to all those who suffered to bring us to you.

of which I became a minister according to the stewardship from God which was given to me for you, to fulfill the word of God, (Colossians 1:25)
Thank you for those who have the stewardship of the gospel.

A word received: Pray for my people who are suffering.

Syria

January 9, 2014

Matthew 4:24 (ESV)
So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, epileptics, and paralytics, and he healed them.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
We affirm that the word of God is living and active. We affirm that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Release a healing anointing upon the Christians in Syria that the fame of Jesus may spread throughout the land. Amen.

Church of England

January 9, 2014

Genesis 13:17-18 (ESV)
Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you.” So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and there he built an altar to the Lord.

Hebrews 11:8-10 (NKJV)
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

Our Father in heaven,

Your servants in the Church of England have not been called to live in a foreign land, but as Christians in a secular society, they are aliens in their native land. Yet they are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.

May they walk in faith through the length and breadth of the land, the soles of their feet establishing Your kingdom in England. Bless their feet.

May they build altars of worship, as the patriarchs of old. Father, You are enthroned upon the praises of Your people. Anoint them with praise and bless their worship. Amen.
