Canopy of praise

Today is South Carolina’s convention. Let us send words of praise to God over that meeting in Charleston, like an archer sending arrows. Pick up a hymnal and sing. Read aloud Psalms 146-150 (the hallelujah psalms).

You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you. The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.
Every droplet of water in the canopy of clouds proclaims Your perfect knowledge. Your righteousness is like the highest mountains, majestic and sure. Your justice is like the great deep.
When you send your Spirit, you renew the face of the ground. You, LORD, preserve both people and animals. How many are your works, LORD! In wisdom you made them all. Amen.
Nehemiah 9:6, Psalm 24:1-2, Job 37:16, Psalm 36:6;104:24, 30

Excerpts from Psalm 118
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in princes. . .
The LORD is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.
Shouts of joy and victory
resound in the tents of the righteous:
“The LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!
The LORD’s right hand is lifted high;
the LORD’s right hand has done mighty things!”
I will not die but live,
and will proclaim what the LORD has done. . .
The LORD is God,
and he has made his light shine upon us.
With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession
up to the horns of the altar.
You are my God, and I will give you thanks;
you are my God, and I will exalt you.
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

O Lamb that was slain, with head full-crowned, worthy are You.
May all of creation in Charleston proclaim, Worthy are You. The wildflowers and the trees, the meadows and the sea sing of Your glory.
May the atmosphere be filled with angelic voices proclaiming, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.
May every creature in Charleston say, Blessing, and honor, and glory, and power, be unto Him that sits upon the throne, and unto the Lamb forever and ever.
May the affirmations of the four beasts and the twenty-four elders fill the air.
We join our voices to theirs and say, O Lamb that was slain, with head full-crowned, You are worthy to take the book sealed with the seven seals. You are worthy to open the seals, for You were slain and have redeemed the saints by Your blood out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation. You have redeemed the Diocese of South Carolina. Worthy, worthy, worthy is the Lamb.
