John 10:11-16 and Prayer Table Report

April 29, 2012

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11)
Jesus, shepherd me day by day.

“But a hireling, he who is not the shepherd, one who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees; and the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them.” (John 10:12)
Lord, there are so many hirelings in the wider Episcopal Church. They have seen the wolves of heresy and relativism and political correctness coming and they have fled and left the sheep to fend for themselves.

“The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep.” (John 10:13)
Have mercy on your sheet and raise up true shepherds for the flock in every parish and diocese of the Episcopal Church.

“I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by my own.” (John 10:14)
Jesus, thank you for knowing us; help us by the working of your Holy Spirit to know you better each day.

“As the Father knows me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.” (John 10:15)
Father, thank you for the pain you have endured in seeing your son nailed to the cross to rescue us his sheep from din and death.

“And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear my voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.” (John 10:16)
Holy Spirit, please help us recognize and embrace every one of your sheep. Thank you.

A word received: You have turned to me; don’t be afraid.

The Human Genome Project (HGP) is an international scientific research project with a primary goal of determining the sequence of chemical base pairs which make up DNA, and of identifying and mapping the approximately 20,000-25,000 genes of the human genome from both a physical and functional standpoint. (keep reading, don’t stop. There is a reason). The human (Homo sapiens) genome is stored on 23 chromosome pairs and in the small mitochondrial DNA. Twenty-two of the 23 chromosomes belong to autosomal chromosome pairs. The haploid human genome occupies a total of just over three billion DNA base pairs. (Wikipedia). Did you get all that? Don’t worry if you didn’t, I just want to point you to Psalm 139:14.
Bottom line; I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14.
