Matthew 9:18 and 2 Kings 23 selections

October 10, 2013

While he spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped him, saying, “My daughter has just died, but come and lay your hand on her and she will live.” (Matthew 9:18 )
Father, bring all of us in this diocese to this same level of faith and trust in Jesus as this man had.

And he defiled Topheth, which is in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter pass through the fire to Molech. (2 Kings 23:10)
Jesus, I ask you to raise up rulers in this nation who will defile every abortion clinic in the land so that no longer will babies be sacrificed for the convenience of the parents. Lord, stop the slaughter of the innocents. Thank you.

Moreover Josiah put away those who consulted mediums and spiritists, the household gods and idols, all the abominations that were seen in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD. (2 Kings 23:24)
Lord Jesus Christ, remove these abominations — psychics and all others who practice the occult among us — from among us.

Now before him there was no king like him, who turned to the LORD with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the Law of Moses; nor after him did any arise like him. (2 Kings 23:25)
Lord GOD, raise up rulers in this land who will turn the hearts of the people back to your ways. Thank you.

A word received 6/4/2009: Pray for this nation. Pray for wise and godly men and women who will lead my people in my ways. Pray for the courts, that they will do true justice. Pray for the Congress and the legislatures, that they will have a spirit of wisdom and discernment. Pray for the President and the Governors, that their hearts will be turned into my ways.

A word received: Pray for ears that are open to my word.

***** Prayer requests from Willowfield parish in Belfast, Northern Ireland:

Subject: Prayer for East Belfast.
Sorry for delay this morning but I was having PC problems and just wanted to scan in case of viruses. Great night last night at ST Patrick’s on the Newtownard’s Rd praying for East Belfast and the city as a whole. Standing room only there must have been around 600 and well done Willowfield a super turn out by older and younger and every group in-between male and female, just shows how high a priority prayer is to us all at Willowfield. There were a number of things to come out of last night which I’m sure we’ll hear more about but the simplest thing is sometimes the Best. Our rector suggested that we pray Blessing over our community everyday for 40 days and there will be more on that this Sunday; But then Jasper Rutherford shared Proverbs.11:11 By the Blessing of the upright a city is exalted, and then he went on to say how he prays blessing on Belfast twice a day at 11.11am and 11.11pm and encouraged us to set the alarm on our phones for these times to Bless our city and I know a number of us have already done this. So could I encourage all of you on the prayer chain to think about doing this simplest of things even once a day for just a few minutes to bless our community and city. Thank you all Ronnie O
