We give thanks to our Lord for the ingathering of godly Anglican leaders in Jerusalem.

Psalm 92

It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praises to thy name, O Most High;

to declare thy steadfast love in the morning, and thy faithfulness by night,

to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre.

For thou, O LORD, hast made me glad by thy work; at the works of thy hands I sing for joy.

How great are thy works, O LORD! Thy thoughts are very deep!

The dull man cannot know, the stupid cannot understand this:

that, though the wicked sprout like grass and all evildoers flourish, they are doomed to destruction for ever,

but thou, O LORD, art on high for ever.

For, lo, thy enemies, O LORD, for, lo, thy enemies shall perish; all evildoers shall be scattered.

But thou hast exalted my horn like that of the wild ox; thou hast poured over me fresh oil.

My eyes have seen the downfall of my enemies, my ears have heard the doom of my evil assailants.

The righteous flourish like the palm tree, and grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

They are planted in the house of the LORD, they flourish in the courts of our God.

They still bring forth fruit in old age, they are ever full of sap and green,

to show that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

All honor, praise, and glory to thee, Lord.  You have anointed a mighty contingent of warriors to lead the church militant against the enemies of the cross.  You have called your servants to Jerusalem, and, with your help, they have answered your call.  Forgive us, Lord, for having doubted you.  Forgive us for having doubted that you are sovereign throughout our church.  Forgive us for having doubted that you have had a plan for our church since the beginning of time.  Forgive us for having doubted that you would raise up leaders to show us the way forward.  Forgive us for not placing our complete trust and faith in you.

You, Lord, have come to us to set us free.  You have not let our doubts and our lack of faith disrupt your plans.  We give thanks, Lord.  We give thanks for your mercy.  We give thanks for your faithfulness in the face of our faithlessness.  We declare your love to all, Lord.  And we sing for joy.

Lord, we pray that you will plant our godly leaders in your courts in Jerusalem.  May they flourish with the fruit of your gospel.  May they and may we ever sing hosannas to your name.

Blessed are we!

The word of the Lord is proclaimed!

The Lord is king!

Let us bow down before him.

Let us worship him and give him thanks.

Let this gracious, tremendous good news burst forth from our hearts so that others may see, and hear, and believe.  Amen.

Psalm 91:1-7

June 20, 2008

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. (Psalm 91:1)
Father Almighty, please help each of us find time to be alone with you; bring each of us to that secret place of rest with you.

I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in him I will trust.” (Psalm 91:2)
Jesus, you are my refuge, my fortress, my God, in you will I trust!

Surely he shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. (Psalm 91:3)
Jesus, please bring Bishop Bill and Bishop Dave into the full freedom of your Spirit as they go to the Global Anglican Futures Conference (GAFCON) in Jerusalem June 22-26. Please give them journey mercies as they travel; protect their families while they are away, and help them recognize false choices for what they are.

He shall cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you shall take refuge; his truth shall be your shield and buckler. (Psalm 91:4)
Father, please let the covering of your Holy Spirit rest upon this diocese.

You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday. (Psalm 91:5-6)
Jesus, no matter what may come at us, you are more than sufficient to meet it, and we place our confidence in you.

A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. (Psalm 91:7)
Holy Spirit, having stood all, we trust that you will help us continue to stand. Thank you.
