Habakkuk 3:1-2

June 23, 2008

A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet: LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, O LORD. Renew them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy. (Habakkuk 3:1-2)
Our father in heaven, may your name be held holy, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day’s bread, and because we cannot live by bread along, please give us this day’s word. Forgive our sins as we forgive those who have sinned against us, and do not bring us to hard testing, but deliver us from evil. Thank you.

GAFCON Continues

June 23, 2008

We pray for a Spirit-led meeting in Jerusalem.

Romans 3: 21-25a

But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from law, although the law and the prophets bear witness to it, the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction; since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, they are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as an expiation by his blood, to be received by faith.

Father, we give you thanks for the gift of faith which has led so many leaders of our church to Jerusalem for the Global Anglican Future Conference.  Please send your Holy Spirit to this meeting, Father, and infuse the hearts of those attending with a burning desire to proclaim the authentic gospel, to spread abroad the great good news of the incarnation, the stupendous achievement of the atoning sacrifice, and the death-defeating resurrection.  May the indwelling Spirit grant them passion so powerful that others may see and be transformed to a state of saving faith.

Bless our leaders in Jerusalem.  Be a part of their proceedings. We doubt not that thy will prevails there.  We await with fervent hope its outcome.  Thank you, Father, for hearing our prayers.

Amen.
